We loved this central location right next to Christmas market but a square away so no noise. We booked 2 rooms for 2 adults and 2 teenage girls. We were given a free upgrade to a larger room with couch area and view of Piazza del Grano from window so we could be adjacent to girls’ room, rather than have the same smaller room as them on a different floor. ||Hotel is lovely, staff very friendly but we didn’t make use of the bar/cafe as so much to see on the doorstep, walk to train station was less than 10 minutes. Make sure to do ride on funiculare (cable car) up to little alpine train line that travels to a couple of villages and back. ||A 3 night stay was sufficient for us to soak up all that Bolzano has to offer for tourists - although I’m sure there is a lot more. We went there for the Christmas market which was lovely but paled in comparison to the huge Munich markets we’d just visited. ||Also worth a visit is the municipal square just near the train station that has an amazing interaction pal display explaining what turned out to be the fascinating cultural origins/divide between the 3 main ethnic groups in the area. People must choose to identify as either German speakers (majority), Italian, or Ladin (small replicas ethnic group we’d never heard of). ||Everything in Bolzano is quite expensive - as throughout northern Italy, but town centre picturesque and we loved Hotel and location. Only minor complaint from husband was tiny shower. He should have remembered, being from Italy. ||Highly...
Read moreI had booked other apartments in Bolzano which were utterly disgusting when I arrived so I grabbed my bag and searched for another place. The young receptionist at Figl was friendly, charming, very helpful and efficient and gave me a single room. The big room was spotlessly clean and had a tv, fridge, wardrobe unlike my previous place. It was quiet, great comfy bed, fabulous shower and breakfast was amazing. Fresh fruit, juices, coffee from the bar, jams in large jars which were probably from a nearby orchard, muesli and other cereals, soya/oat milk, meats, cheese, boiled eggs, delicious variety of breads, pumpernickel was my favourite and cakes....strudel ... almost as good as my Mums which I ate every morning. It was the perfect breakfast before my mountain walks everyday. Lovely, friendly staff who speak everything....Italian, German, English and probably more. Right behind Waltherplatz it has the perfect...
I pannelli in legno erano molto suggestivi e l'intero hotel è molto ben arredato e bellissimo. -----inglese--------- Hotel Figl in the center of Bolzano (Bozen) is a world class hotel. We learned from the staff that there has been a hotel on this site since the 13th century and the current one has recently been refurbished for all the comforts of home. Our room overlooked the square (Piazzo del Grano) and was very spacious and clean. The wood paneling was very impressive and the whole hotel is very well decorated and beautiful. My wife and I stayed here 2 nights during the Christmas market (2022) and had a blast. The hotel staff is very knowledgeable about the surrounding area and speaks multiple languages (Italian, English and German). The hotel is close to everything in the city center and very close to the train station. You can easily walk to most attractions and there are buses that can take you up into the Dolomites and to castles in the area if you want to travel beyond the city centre. Be sure to have breakfast in the restaurant and admire the carved features in the dining room panels. In the summer you can also eat outside in the square and watch the world go by. We highly recommend this lovely hotel and will certainly be returning in...
