We had the pleasure of dining twice at Vasco Da Gama during our recent visit to Brecia, Italy. We went back the second time because everything about the first dinner was beyond fantastic. The food, the service, the atmosphere... 5 stars across the board. Our first dinner was outside on a very nice June evening; dinner number two was inside on a rainy night. It would be difficult to say one was better than the other! Outside on the sidewalk is people watching heaven, inside is very quiet and romantic! Magda was our waitress both evenings, what a gem! Fantastic service, from helping us find our way through the menu, to serving and cleaning off the table, waters always filled... she worked very hard and was so very pleasant. We mainly had the fish dishes, the best being the potato crusted gilthead (sea bream). The wine list is very good, bubbles from Franciacorta, Italy both evenings. Superb place. Highly recommend Vasco Da Gama if you're ever in the area!

Probably one of the best steak I have ever tasted, and yet it's so simple: - just grilled, pure quality! The diced roasted potatoes were lightly roasted to keep it soft and juicy. The roasted potatoes were placed under the grilled beef to keep the beef sightly above room temperature. So simple and yet so superb! High quality of ingredients, honest good food without any of the pretentiousness nonsense. Staff has reasonable command of English. I would come all the way to Brescia just to have their grilled beef! Food 10/10, ambience 7/10, service 7/10, value for money 9/10. A real gem!

We went there today with a group of around 16 people. The waitress with black hair and big black glasses treated us very rudely from the beginning. She kept warning us that if we bumped into anything or got hurt, we would have to pay and it wouldn’t be their fault – her tone was aggressive and completely unprofessional.

Later, she pressured one of our tables to order quickly because, in her words, they were “wasting the staff’s time.” That table decided to leave. Two people from that group wanted to join our table, and when we politely asked if we could add one more chair, we were met with a barrage of insults. She told us, “In Italy people don’t move like that,” and called us idiots, scumbags, and other offensive names.

Even though we offered to pay for the water they had placed on our table, they told us to leave and continued yelling insults as we walked out. We didn’t even get to eat.

The waitress, who was also Romanian like us, even refused to speak in Romanian, saying she was only allowed to speak Italian or English — which made no sense.

I usually avoid leaving bad reviews, but this was honestly one of the worst experiences I’ve had in Italy. That waitress should absolutely not be working in...

We went today to eat there and the waitress with black hair and black chunky glasses was constantly telling us if we get hurt or hit a table we we’re going to pay and it was not going to be their fault. after she was really mean about that she kept telling one of our tables(we we’re approx 16 ppl) that they need to order now cause they are keeping them busy. that table ended up leaving so 2 of those wanted to move at our table, when we asked if it is ok to move one more chair to the table they started saying that in italy people don’t move like that and that we we’re idiots, scumbags and other offensive names. we offered to pay the water that they put on our table but they said to just leave and kept shouting after us other offensive names. i hate to leave reviews but this is by far one of the baddest experiences i’ve had since i’ve started travelling in italy. i hope that black haired lady is getting fired ASAP cause she is really rude. she was also a romanian like us and kept saying she was not allowed to speak to us in romanian only in italian or english....
