Casa Gentile has everything that you would want in a bed and breakfast. The property is very quiet, clean, the bedrooms were good sized and so were the bathrooms. Their is a small garden sitting area outside and the property is walking distance to the downtown area. The highlight each day was Lidia serving a full breakfast. She would show up with fresh croissants and other baked goods that her husband picked up each day when the bakery opened. In addition, she made our bacon and eggs to order which was so important to my parents, as they love "American breakfast" :-) (American breakfast is NOT easy to find in Italy.) Other items included a different cheese each day for us to sample from the Valtellina region along with wonderful cold cuts and fresh bread. The entry room to the B&B was well stocked with complimentary waters, juices and tea that was available to us throughout the day. In addition, there was a common refrigerator, microwave, toaster, electric tea kettle and coffee maker. Staying at Casa Gentile was truly having the best of both worlds while on vacation. There is no doubt where we will stay on our next visit to Como. Thank you, Lidia, for your...

Read moreThe setting of the Casa Gentile B&B was ideal. It’s perfectly located near the happenings around the central square and the port. Beautiful vegetable and flower gardens surround it, but what makes this place a gem is the landlady, Lidia. She was a real delight. The breakfasts she prepared were astounding, and she adjusted the preparation to meet our early planned excursions around the lake. She was attentive but not intrusive. She also did some laundry since we were on an extended holiday- completely unexpected. Everything was wonderful.||Only one consideration, if you’re arriving by train with suitcases. While it was a short walk (about 8 minutes), some was up the hill. However, the key is to arrive at the correct train station. Como has two separate stations. Lago di Como is close to the port and the B&B. San Giovanni is further away; you can expect a 30-minute walk with your suitcases. On a hot day, this can be exhausting.||This was an outstanding place to explore all of the Lake...
