Trattoria Lo Chef — Restaurant in Catania

Questa è stata di gran lunga la peggiore esperienza culinaria che abbia mai avuto, abbiamo ordinato prima la pasta, arrivata subito, poi il resto del cibo, tutto uno alla volta ogni 30 minuti. Lo chef non si è lavato le mani nemmeno una volta, dato che la cucina è pubblica e potevamo vederlo, non ha usato guanti o altro, ha afferrato tutta la carne con le mani, a un certo punto si è persino leccato un dito e ha afferrato il cibo subito dopo. In più c'era uno scarafaggio nella sala da pranzo! Assolutamente disgustoso. Il mio amico ha ordinato una pizza, non l'hanno portata quando abbiamo chiesto dove fosse dopo un'ora, hanno detto che l'avevano dimenticata e che sarebbe arrivata in 5 minuti, è arrivata 30 minuti dopo e NON ERA NEMMENO LA PIZZA GIUSTA. Incredibilmente antigienico e nemmeno una scusa per questo comportamento. NON VENITE MAI QUI. Il cibo era coperto d'olio, è come se la mia pizza avesse una pozza d'olio sopra, ho dovuto tamponarla con i fazzoletti, lo stesso con le mie patate. Tutta la carne proveniva da un congelatore unto e pubblico, le luci del locale si sono spente più volte. E il pavimento era disgustoso, pieno di briciole, cibo bruciato e grasso. Inoltre, non si capiva una parola di inglese e i camerieri passavano metà del tempo al telefono. Se tenete alla salute del vostro intestino, NON ANDATECI. Se volete prendervi un'intossicazione alimentare e venite trattati come feccia, questo è il posto giusto!

This was by far the worst dining expierenceI've ever had, we ordered first the pasta arrived instantly then the rest of the food all one by one every 30 minutes. The chef didn't wash his hands once since the kitchen is in public we could see, he did not use gloves or anything he grabbed all the meat with his hands, even at one point licked his finger then grabbed the food right after. Plus there was a roach in the dining area! Absolutely disgusting. My friend ordered a pizza, they didn't bring it when we asked where it was after an hour they said they forgot it and said it would be there in 5 minutes, it arrived 30 minutes later and IT WASNT EVEN THE RIGHT PIZZA. insanely unhygienic and not even one apology for this behavior. NEVER COME HERE. The food was covered in oil it's like my pizza had a pool of oil on it I had to dab it off with tissues, the same with my potatoes. All the meat came from a greasy freezer in public, the places lights went off multiple times. And the floor was disgusting filled with crumbs burnt food and grease. I'm glad I didn't listen to some of the reviews I read because this place to eat was fantastic! Ok the waitress wasn't very friendly and wouldn't let me go to the toilet as she was cleaning the floor so I was glad the owner came along when she did, as she pretty much told her off and told her to let me go, which didn't make the waitress very happy.

The red wine we had was fantastic too, which surprised me a lot, as it was so cheap and served in a plastic cup.

I had a beef hamburger and my friend, (Sicilian but raised in Australia) had a sausage one and the quality of the meat and the flavour was perfect. No one spoke English but along with my Sicilian friend and my minimal Italian language skills it was fine. The owner was lovely and sat and chatted to us for a bit.

If I had more time in cantania, I'd go back...

Despite some negative reviews we stopped in this restaurant while walking around the area. As we understood, this restaurant is family owned and they're all working there. The food is amazing, especially the BBQ outside with all fresh meat in plain sight... there's a big choice of typical Catanese meat exposed.
