Great place if you want to have a light dinner with some nice wine, or simply want to try out an assortment of Sicilian wine in a single evening without costing a great fortune. Situated in a quiet neighbourhood near Via Crociferi, it is only a few minutes’ walk to the underground station, but far enough to evade all the noise of bustling Catania. The shop is simply but delicately furnished, with a small but charming terrace facing a sloping street. I ordered the €15 cheese and salumi platter, which should be quite enough for two not-so-starving people. The wine list seems quite comprehensive; if one wants only glasses of wine, around a dozen choices are available, which may not seem too sizeable: but the list is well curated, and covers a wide range of flavours, which should be enough to sate one who is not familiar with Sicilian wine for a night. The manager is very knowledgeable and passionate about his wine and food, and is able to provide detailed and accurate information on the flavour of each variety, though I own no Italian. I visited over a week ago, and it was my first wine-tasting experience in Italy. I was greatly reminded of the superiority of this experience after another trial at wine-sampling (in a different town). Warmly recommended to anyone that looks for an unorthodox...
Read moreGo hungry, and curious about wines - had an absolutely amazing visit here and ended up going back with more friends for a second visit! The staff are so lovely, very knowledgeable and friendly and were very accommodating so we could do the wine tasting menu with a mix of vegetarian and meat eaters. Food was incredible and the wine was great, loved how they explained a bit about each one and were happy to answer questions. Didn’t feel rushed at all, and portions were very generous! Get the bruschetta - one of my faves from what we tried, but it was all delicious. I liked too many of the wines to recommend anything in particular but just ask the staff and they’ll help you find something you’ll love! We ended up getting two bottles after the tasting, we just didn’t want to leave. Can’t say enough nice things, this was a highlight of my week in Catania! Thank you for (two!)...
Read moreSmall quaint place that gives of a very homely vibe, we called in advance too book a table just to make sure we find a spot. There is a reason why it has 5 star reviews on Google and it is because it's just a nice place to eat and I might add, quite romantic. The service is really nice, and the wine suggestions just hit the right spot. Me and my friends tried multiple wine and they do have quite a few selections of wine that are served by the glass, perfect for those that want to experience a wine tasting. The platter had regional cheeses and meats which paired really nicely with the honey, chutney and grapes. What I personally enjoyed the most were the paninis and bruschetta s , we chose the most experimental sorts and we were not disappointed. I was really happy that they experimented with lard which is really popular in...
