Mon Chou-Chou — Restaurant in Cefalù

I come from Germany and recently visited this pastry shop by chance during my vacation in Sicily, and I would like to praise its high standards of cleanliness in particular.

Unfortunately, in 99.9 percent of cases worldwide, when you visit restaurants etc., you have the unpleasant experience of salespeople touching products intended for consumption with the same hands they use to handle money. It is not uncommon to encounter the absurd situation where salespeople wear gloves but use them to handle both money and products intended for consumption, rendering the gloves useless. Unfortunately, it is an all too common experience that restaurateurs etc. do not adhere to the necessary hygiene standards.

Fortunately, the employee at this pastry shop who served me was a rare exception who worked sensibly and adhered to the highest hygiene standards. She handled money with a glove and then took it off again after the payment process without touching the dirty side of the glove, so that her hands remained clean. She prepared the cannolo with clean hands.

I would like to express my sincere thanks to the pastry shop and its employee for caring about the health of their customers and working honestly and conscientiously. This shows me that they take their work as restaurateurs seriously and do their job with diligence.

The staff are very friendly and the selection of products is large and delicious. The prices are excellent.

You must try everything from the dessert to gelato! Especially their specialties. I can’t pronounce many of the names but they are like dreams come true. I ordered one of each when i go there and every bite brings best memories! I forget to take pictures because I couldn’t wait to eat them. This green thing with ricotta cheese and cake , soooooooooo good ( it’s a local specialty I think. Every pastry I go has some version of it). Another small one has a red cherry on top, it has almost a shortbread crust with cheesy fillings! I just finished some and I will miss it forever! Congratulations on the delicious dessert! We also ordered gelato there. They had a store special flavor ( very very good). The fruit ones are refreshing and pistachio gelato is creamy! The gelato portion is huge and price is on par with the other places. The dessert is on the pricy side but you get what you pay for. Easy to say this is the best...

Lovely little gelato and baked goods shop in Cefalu. Clean interior with a service window on the street side as well. The lady working was super nice and greeted us with a warm attitude. She made her best effort to communicate in English for us, and we both appreciated her greatly! The gelato was good - not the absolute best we’ve had while in Sicily but not a disappointment in the least. I had milk chocolate, espresso, and hazelnut while my girlfriend had pistachio and fior di latte. All of the flavors were enjoyable, I’d say the best of that selection were the hazelnut and milk chocolate, as they were the richest in flavor. Overall, a pleasant...
