A casual, quaint spot paying homage to Carlo Collodi, creator of Pinocchio, who is from Florence. The servers were amiable and the food was good, typical Tuscan cuisine. I was originally looking to order one of the other local dishes but as a steak lover, I knew I had to try the Bistecca alla Fiorentina (Florentine-style beefsteak) although at first I was hesitant because it was a large steak being that this style has a minimum weight requirement to be truly proper. My wife agreed to share it with me so I could also try their pasta and we are both glad that we tried it. Now I usually eat my steaks medium-rare with some A.1. Sauce but you know what they say…When in Rome… well Florence but you know what I mean. If you are a steak enthusiast, I recommend you at least try it once. The beef is from a specific breed of cattle (Chianina) which is prepared & cooked a specific way, dry-aged and served rare (but not bloody) with very simple seasoning (salt & pepper, olive oil) to highlight the flavor of the meat. As for pasta, we tried their Pici all’aglione, Tuscan pasta with garlic tomato sauce. The pasta looks like fat spaghetti and the garlic is a specific type, Aglione di Valdichiana (Chiana garlic) which is much larger than classic garlic and is more mild with a sweeter flavor. Very simple but still delicious.

Ordered pasta dishes and ribolita, we were group of veggies so no brisket or anything. Loved ravioli in truffle sauce the most... But the portion size was not much, it was deceptive to put the restaurant in €€ category. But infact you were going to have to order 2 dishes to feel full so that'll make it €€€. The thing I hated most was the waitress attitude towards us, we are not locals also not whites, I cannot call it racism but for sure the girl didn't make us feel welcomed also didn't serve the complimentary bread which people usually use to finish up the sauce of pasta, or simply have while wait for dishto get prepared. I didn't expect apology but even after pointing out mistake she refused to accept and instead said you didn't order any dish that will come with bread, which is funny because all Italian restaurant just keep bread in table even before giving out menu card. Probably she thought us to be tourist, which we were not - for this reason taking out 2 points. We didn't get to sit outside, was a crowded day(easter weekend) we compromised to sit inside, was like ww2 underground shelter but decorated with pinocchio will not recommend to others, rather walk some 100m to marcetto - foot court and have what you want.

A couple of days ago, when my family and I stopped by Florence, we happened to come across this restaurant. We decided to try the food since it was recommended by a friend. The appetizer didn’t really align with our stomachs because it wasn’t what we are used to eating, as we’re tourists there. However, the main course made up for it and was definitely delicious! The service was amazing, with the waiters constantly checking up on us. Their attempt to speak English is much appreciated versus the other services we’ve encountered in Italy. The environment was amazing as well since the outdoor setting was quite cozy and other customers were respectful to one another. Overall, I’d certainly recommend others to have a go at this restaurant!

Cucina

molto buona e carne davvero ottima.
