This specifically is for the NYE Dinner experience & fixed 4 course menu.
I was very excited to try this restaurant after reading the reviews and thought this would be a perfect place to eat before celebrating in a nearby Piazza at midnight. Immediately walking in, for our 9PM reservation, the staff was friendly, polite and cheerful and all of the tables were filled with happy diners.
We ordered a bottle of Chianti and enjoyed fresh bread while we waited for our first course which was THE MOST DELICIOUS Beef Tartare we have ever had served with caviar. It was tender, flavorful, and such a large portion per person. It was to die for.
This was when things began to go south. After our first course, we started to notice other tables who arrived before us didn’t have any plates on their tables. We were chatting and sipping wine for almost 45-50 minutes before our next dish arrived. Which was a tortellini stuffed with potato in a cream sauce topped with fresh truffles, while it was filling and delicious, the timing was a bit off.
We ended up ordering another bottle of wine to pass the time. We noticed tables started to complain and one woman stormed out around 11:30PM and she also had not received all of her courses.
We waited another 55 minutes for the third course to be delivered at 11:45PM on NYE which was a very sad Beef Wellington and a side of overcooked potatoes. It seemed very rushed and thrown on the plate. 😔
We quickly ate the beef but left the puff pastry which was soggy and not even properly wrapped around the beef. We ended up paying and skipped the 4th course which was a Pistachio Tiramisu along with a few other tables.
The server said we could go outside to celebrate and then come back to enjoy the dessert, but we decided to leave since it was 11:56PM.
It was unfortunate that the restaurant wasn’t properly prepared and it caused us to spend $300 on a dinner that definitely did not meet our expectations. I am sure on a normal night they are great, but they definitely dropped the ball on a very...
Read moreBy far the best Italian meals we've ever had. We came here for lunch one day and were blown away by the quality of the food and service. The pesto gnocchi is one of the best dishes I've ever had. The pici is to die for. The pappardelle with ragu is the perfect Tuscan pasta. And the stuffed chicken is delicious. The spinach had amazing flavor. If we had more time in Florence we'd come back to try more of the Secondi dishes and sides. My wife and I mentioned we were sharing everything and they split each dish and plated it beautifully so we weren't needing to reach across the table.
We tried Furtura for lunch our first day in Florence and it was easily the best meal we had in Italy. After two disappointing dinners with mediocre or bad food and bad service (at one restaurant our waiter watched over almost our entire meal), we knew we had to come back here. The staff are knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive without being overbearing. We will definitely be recommending this restaurant to anyone who goes...
Read moreWe found this place on Open Table as we wanted a "local" place to eat at. The dishes ordered were the Pici Crema di Pecorino & Tarufo, the Millefoglie di Orata, the Pattete arrosto. None of these dishes disappointed. The fish tasted fresh, the pasta was made in house (with actual truffles), and the potatoes melted in your mouth. Their desserts are unique to the day so they are always rotating. We chose both the classic and pistachio tiramisu (because who can resist that) and they were to die for. Our cocktail selection has now also been extended to include Limoncello Spritz and it was absolutely delicious! (Coming from a former bartender).
The service was extremely prompt with care and passion put behind it. I highly recommend giving this place a try, you certainly won't regret it! (This is coming from an American who has high expectations of restaurants, even though he has a European background.
