While not possessing the indulgent variety found in gelaterias across the city, La Sorbetierra embraces "the less is more" approach, perhaps ill-advised in the gelato business where the plethora of colours and choices are what draw the masses in. La Sorbetierra sticks to about 10 flavours, but they do them exceedingly well. The Peruvian chocolate was decadent, a sinful, enticing dance of bitter and rich; the chai tea latte caught even the Indian in me by surprise with a little hint of masala tip-toeing around the notes of tea.
My girlfriend ordered the affogato and combined the tea one time and the Nonna's Italian custard for the second; while she liked the former she was bowled over by the latter. On our first visit, an Italian child ran away from his mother and went back to the counter to politely ask for one of the wafers used to top a scoop of gelato. The owners delightfully obliged with a free one, so do consider leaving a little tip in their jar to help their gratitude find their way back to them. The only regret was not trying out more of their flavours, but they knocked 5/5 out of the park, so I'm certain they're good at what they do. Would...

If you’re in Florence and not eating gelato, you’re doing it wrong. And if you’re eating gelato not from La Sorbetteria, you might want to rethink your life choices.

Together, they were a match made in frozen heaven. Creamy, decadent, and somehow still light. I didn’t want it to end. Honestly, I considered getting another round.
If you’re near Florence—even remotely—go to La Sorbetteria. Skip the tourist traps. This is the real deal.

There was a man and a woman working when we went and they only offer one taster per person which is understandable but the guy behind the counter offered my sister another tester although she had already tried a flavor and the woman working there screamed that she already tried a flavor and ripped it out of his hands and ate the spoonful of gelato in front of my little sister to prove a point. Completely inappropriate and rude to behave like that when a child was offered it. She couldn’t spare a spoonful and had to eat it herself. Gluttonous, and disgusting behavior. Won’t be visiting them again after...
