Chances are you came here because you heard about the famous Da Michele from Naples. I had no idea there was a location in Florence. At the time, this location was not listed on Yelp yet. The bartender in our hotel told us that Da Michele had opened in Florence not too long ago. Of course we decided to check it out.

We came here for dinner at about 6PM. A few people were waiting for them to open, but still there was no wait for a table. Once seated, it took about fifteen minutes to get water and order, and then a few short minutes later, our pizzas arrived, and they were huge.

7.50€ Margherita - pomodoro, fior di latte di agerola, basilico, pecorino DOP, olio, (tomato sauce, mozzarella, basil, pecorino DOP, oil): There's something about the dough that makes it so soft and light. It is just lightly charred in certain spots. The crust is very thin with just enough sauce to give it the right flavor and so that the crust can support the sauce. The tomato sauce is also very light and not too sweet or sour, but just tastes fresh. As I held the pizza to my face and got a whiff of the aromatic basil and creamy mozzarella, I could hear my stomach nod in agreement.

9.50€ La Pizza Fritta-"Cicoli," salame di maialino nero casertano, fior di latte di agerola, ricotta di bufala, pecorino DOP, pepe, olio (fried pizza w/ pressed pork, caserta black pork salami, mozzarella, ricotta, pecorino DOP, pepper, oil): I knew I wanted to try a fried pizza, just to satisfy my curiosity. I was not expecting this thin, calzone-shaped pizza to be almost twice the size of the plate. The pizza fritta itself is actually lightly fried, just slightly crunchy, and not very oily. It is very abundant with ricotta with bits of pork scattered throughout.

We definitely left feeling very satisfied and stuffed. The pizzas were delicious and very reasonably priced. Having left Italy, it is tough to go back to eating pizza...

Do not eat here unless you want food poisoning. This place has ruined my holiday for 2 days…

EDIT: Just because the owner accused me of slander I will give more detail. We ordered the sausage pizza and the one with the yellow and red tomatoes (Vesuvio). The greens on the sausage pizza were absolutely inedible and excessive. Whoever thought that is acceptable as food really has no taste buds. The other pizza tasted acceptable, but it wasn’t very tasty overall. Me and my partner ended up sharing that as neither of us could even touch the sausage one after a few bites.

After that experience I felt sick the whole night, ending up with me seeing the pizza once again. Not in the most pleasant way.

That had made me unable to eat almost anything for the next 2 days, then the 3rd day I felt horrible shooting pains in my stomach and intestines during my entire flight.

Seems like most of the 5 star reviews are local guides (who probably get commission for bringing people there) and the 1 stars are actual human beings who are scammed in accidentally eating there.

Considering that it is rather inexpensive, I think you pay in your holiday being ruined.

Definitely do...

10/10!! First time in Firenze and we came across this excellent pizzeria when looking for options. It didn't disappoint!

We had no reservation but still got seated instantly. Service was quick and both pizzas arrived surprisingly fast. We chose a double margherita and the bufalina. You can tell the ingredients are top quality and handmade, but the pizza dough was definitely the best! Typical napoli style and for sure one of the best i've ever eaten. Size is humongous but you'll have no problem finishing it.

Then time for the dessert. Service this time was a bit slow between the pizzas and the desserts, but it's completely understandable and not such a long wait during the busiest hour.

We went for the tiramisu and some fried nodini with Nutella. Size was generous once again! Best tiramisu we've ever tasted by far and the nodini are simply lovely.

You can tell they have a nice staff team, at least we don't have any complaints and the vibe was amazing.

In the end the bill was just 45€ for 2 big bottles of water, 2 pizzas, 1 tiramisu and the nodini. Very very good price for such a high quality product.

Definitely a must visit if...

This place is simply amazing. It might’ve been the cheapest meal we had on our trip — but honestly, it was also the one I enjoyed the most. It’s located in Piazza del Mercato Centrale, and we showed up on a Sunday evening around 8–9 PM, without a reservation. We ordered a Margherita pizza that cost less than a cup of coffee at the famous Gilli café in Piazza della Repubblica! The real highlight? The dough. It’s somewhere between a Druze laffa and an Arab-style pita, with a strong smoky flavor — light, airy, and absolutely perfect. From the first bite, I knew we were ordering another one. The tomato sauce was fresh and bright, and the cheese… well, we had mixed feelings. It had a smoky flavor — I thought it was unique and delicious, but my girlfriend wasn’t a fan. So for round two, we went for the Marinara pizza — purely for the real pizza lovers out there. No cheese, just dough, tomato, and seasoning — and it was outstanding. It really let the dough and sauce shine. We had two beers and enjoyed every second. Easily one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had. Highly recommended.
