An amazing hidden gem, just moments away from the Duomo or the San Lorenzo Mercato. When we approached the restaurant, we were greeted by amazingly friendly staff, who invited us to eat. How could we say no? They were so happy to see us! We began our meal with the cheese, honey and jam platter. This was delicious! Try it!! I loved the presentation and would totally have taken some of the pepper jam home, if I didn't live far, far away in another land! To accompany our cheese, we each opted to start with a Spritz. A Hugo for me and an Aperol for the husband. Go for the Hugo. It's light and fresh while still sweet. Fantastic! If I didn't fear being a total lush, I would have had two. Yum. It was hard to choose just one thing for our meal, but when in Florence, you have to go for the bistecca fiorentina. It's a little spendy, but you are on the trip of a lifetime. Eat it. We added a side of roasted potatoes, and some house wine. No regrets. We ordered the steak the only correct way, medium rare, and it was incredible. So tender, so flavorful. The potatoes were perfectly cooked, and the wine divine. On a side note, the hubby wanted to also try the pappardelle cinghiale. He declared it was the best he has ever eaten in Italy. And he has eaten this dish countless times. Our bellies were stuffed, but we knew we had to have some dessert. We chose the tiramisu. Wow. We didn't think the meal could get any better, but then we had the tiramisu. It was moist, without being wet. Lightly sweetened and so delightful that each bite left you longing for another. On top of the amazing food, the staff were friendly and went out of their way to make us feel welcomed, while also giving us plenty of space to enjoy our time together. I appreciate the Italian meal culture and look forward to enjoying another meal here again someday....
Read moreI'm leaving these guys a 5 star review on every platform I can find because they deserve 6 stars from me, if possible. The texture and flavor of the pasta in my Pici Senesi Alla Chiantigiana unbelievably fantastic. The meat and sauce were also excellent. My salad's ingredients were incredibly fresh tasting and flavorful. The free bread (is it even an Italian restaurant without that?) was good, but particularly tasty with their oil/vinegar. The tiramisu did not seem to be a huge portion, but that may have been just because it could be the best I've EVER had, and I wish there was more. I'm a certified tiramisu junkie, for the record. The place is cute inside and located in a good spot for outside dining and in general. But why I'm writing this review was the service. I was welcomed (though not overly warmly) despite my disheveled appearance when I first walked in. I tried to politely ask if an hour would be enough time to dine before I had to catch a train, which may have also not helped me as a NY tourist.... But the two gentleman on the floor clearly hustled to make my food come out very fast, they were very attentive without being intrusive, and once we got a chance to chat later they were very warm and friendly and made me feel like la familia. They even contributed a little freebie at the end of my meal, which I greatly appreciated. I wish I could have tipped them handsomely but I didn't have a chance to get to an ATM... I hope my reviews get them the business and tips...
Read moreI was brought to this restaurant on my last night of study abroad by my roommates. I am so happy they brought me here. Best dinner of my life! Very sad I did not know about this restaurant sooner.
When you arrive you are given complementary processo which I found to be very nice. I decided to order a glass of blogheri DOC wine. My roommates split a bottle of the house “Rosso Le Capelle Medicee” wine. This wine tasted and paired better with the pasta dishes than my bolgheri in my opinion.
For appetizer I ordered the bruschetta. My honest opinion is that it is the best in all of Florence. For my first course I ordered a pasta with wild boar sauce. The portion was a good size and was an average price.
Next, I split the steak with one of my friends. In Italy the stake comes out very rare, I am from America and like my steak well done. I ordered medium well and it was the perfect about of pink.
For dessert I decided to go with the cheesecake. It tasted very good and was the perfect way to end my lovely meal. When it was time to pay the manager allowed us to pay using separate credit cards. My total came to €37. When we rang me up she told me that I only had to pay €30.
I spent about 2.5-3 hours here. This restaurant allows you to get the real Italian food experience without making a big dent to your wallet. If you are studying abroad or just visiting, I definitely recfoment this...
