We have a local friend in Florence who shared that this is she and her husband’s favorite restaurant in all of Florence. We have already tried a number of top rated restaurants in Florence and were excited to try Olio Restaurant. Carlos met us at the door, he is handsome, friendly and welcoming. We were seated and as we were waiting we noticed a very extensive wine selection all around the dining room. Carlos shared that they are consumed with finding the freshest seasonal ingredients in Tuscany to prepare for their customers. Service was attentive but not intrusive. Food was spectacular, flavorful and left us wanting more with every dish. My wife and I ordered to share plates and tried several small items from the antipasti and primi portion of the menu and shared a secondi. Fresh bread with the best olive oil from Siena (where we had just spent a couple of weeks) was a treat! Great meal and we will definitely return when we visit Florence once again. { Seems to be a recurring issue, as my wife and I have been enjoy our meals so much in Florence that we keep forgetting to take pictures for our review. Please forgive us, but don’t ignore the reviews. They are from the heart and from amazing culinary experiences! } Ciao!

My group had its farewell evening, at this lovely restaurant. Already the Ambiente was marvelous. You sit in a room like a library, but instead of the books there are numerous bottles of great wines in the shelves. And the food was just delicious. We had Fresh pici with Ragù di Cinta Senese Fillet of Cinta Senese with fresh chard and Vinsanto sauce and burnt cream with vinsanto and cantucci granules and everything was so tasty 😋. The owner gave us a chance to stay longer in the restaurant due to the reason, that we had as well some celebrations. That’s Italian hospitality at its best! Thank you!

Halfway through our meal the restaurant manager told us we would be responsible for a 500 euro “room fee” and would be charged 250 euro per person for the exact same food on the menu that said 55 euro per person. We were also give a 14 euro bottle of wine and horrible service that apparently accounted for the 900 euro up charge from the menu. The restaurant was completely empty on a Friday night. We are Americans and they definitely scammed us. No way around it.

In sintesi: tanta apparenza, poca sostanza. Prezzi ingiustificati, personale non all’altezza, atmosfera caotica....

Tonight's dinner was so disappointing that I'm now writing my first-ever Google review. To start, we were the only ones in the restaurant on a Thursday night, until one couple arrived a little after 9pm, making for a weird ambiance. More importantly, the food was poor -- the burrata was served cold (which meant it wasn't very creamy or tasty), my entrée of poached egg with potato and truffles (one of the specials) was totally tasteless and our pastas were lukewarm, arriving after a long wait. The only positive point was the nice waiter. Not sure if the owner has changed recently given the other positive reviews, but there's no way this place will be open for much longer with this kind of...
