Upon arrival we were greeted nicely and warmly by a man. He was able to answer all our questions, directed us to a parking place for the car, and explained the amenities of the hotel.
Our room was for two people. Spacious, has a window though it was facing the building in front. Didn't bother us much as we kept it covered with the curtains to avoid heat from coming in. There was air conditioning though which is nice during a 38°C weather. You'll need to slip your keycard into a socket to turn on the electricity and use the cooling. Bathroom is big, our toilet had a bidet in front of it, and it was separated by a wall from the sink and bath tub area. Cleaning staff greeted us, were very polite, and also helped me with my luggage since there were a couple steps going down to the room we had.
They provide you with yellow towels to be used in the rooftop pool which was open until 9PM (if I remember correctly) when we were there. It's not as big as the photos seem to show on the website, however. Cozy enough for a family of eight, but if you add more people I think it would feel too cramped. I prefer to have a lot of space between myself and other people. There's a button on one of the pool walls that allow you to activate the hydromassage for a few minutes.
Rooftop view is stunning! Beautiful during the day as it is in the night. This is where we had breakfast. There are salty and sweet options. Smoked salmon, cold cuts, cheese, scrambled and sunny side up eggs, bacon, and baked beans and just among the salty varieties I could remember. For the sweet part, you have a choice of croissants with marmalade or plain, yogurt with a good choice of fresh and sweetened fruit, nuts, seeds, cakes (best chocolate cake by the way, super moist and soft), and muffins. They have a bartender for the mornings to make you delicious cappuccino and all other good stuff. Frankly, I like to think the morning and evening staff at the rooftop restaurant were the best. They're all smiles, hospitable, like to check up on you. Be sure to give your room number before you head to the buffet! Keep an eye out for the little birds who are usually hanging around past 8AM, they poke at the plates when no one's around to supervise your table.
We could only eat once for dinner here, and with just a first course because it was on the expensive side. Still, risotto was delicious and creamy. Was a very pleasant experience.
The location of the hotel itself is very good because it only takes you 16 minutes to walk to Ponte Vecchio and a little less for all the other touristy places surrounding that area. If you cross the third-nearest bridge, it leads you to a famous gelato place in the area and people line up for that. I recommend visiting it too when you're nearby. Afterwards, head to the hotel for a well-needed siesta.
My boyfriend and I aren't big on watching TV so we didn't test it. There's a laundry service but it's paid separately, unavailable during weekends and holidays, and fairly expensive. You have the option to have your clothes ironed OR washed and ironed. There's no option for a wash only, as verified by the receptionist. If you do decide to go through with the service, be sure to fill in the provided slip with all the details and drop your clothes off at reception early in the morning. You should receive it on the evening.
All in all, it was a solid experience, can recommend it just for the good combination of location practicality and comfortable...
Read moreBuyer Beware! After reading all of the excellent reviews regarding this hotel, my wife and I decided to book a room via Expedia for two nights. The first thing we noticed upon arriving at the hotel and entering the front door, was that the door handles were in disrepair and had clearly not been maintained. This should have been our first red flag. We checked in promptly and headed up to room 403. The room was not in very good shape and seemed like quiet a bit of ongoing maintenance had been skipped. Additionally, there was a mildew odor. The room honestly looked like something one would find at a kid's Summer camp. There wasn't even a headboard on the bed. We opened the door and the heat radiated out of the room, it was at least 90 degrees inside. We attempted to turn on the air conditioning unit, but after several minutes of no luck, I called downstairs and was told that the AC was turned off throughout the building last week and only the heat was now available. Wonderful... We opened the two patio doors/windows (both of which could have easily been pried open from outside; there was a small partition separating our room from our next door neighbors) and attempted to get some cool air inside the room. Luckily, after 20 minutes, the room cooled down to around 80 degrees. We went out for the evening and returned around 11:30p. We immediately heard our nextdoor neighbors talking- the walls are paper thin. Additionally, the restaurant kitchen was located right above our room, so we listened to the cooks yelling back and forth in Italian and slamming cabinets and dropping things on the floor until around 1:30am. Finally, we decided to close the windows due to the noise from upstairs. Around 5:00am we woke up drenched in sweat because there was no air circulating in the room. Not even the fan on the AC unit works. Needless to say, the night was miserable. We went upstairs the next morning to partake in the included breakfast. Unfortunately, the flies were also enjoying the food, as only the tray of cheese was covered. The entire experience was too much for us, we packed up and made plans at another hotel for...
Read moreI stayed for 1 week whilst attending my son's wedding. The hotel is in a very good location 10 mins walk from the town centre but benefits from peace, calm and quiet of this location. I had a double room for single occupancy. It was a large room with good en suite, plenty storage space and coat hangers. In all honesty it would have benefitted from a lick of paint but bed was very comfortable and bedding good quality. What makes this hotel special is the staff, the roof terrace and the pool. All the staff from the restaurant staff, to front of house and housekeeping were so pleasant and nothing was too much trouble. They even posted some cards for me as I couldn't find a post box. !! The housekeeping staff were very efficient, changed towels regularly and seemed to changed the bedding very regularly as well. The room was cleaned extremely well. The breakfast, which was included, gave a wide choice of food hot and cold. Sadly my diet went out of the window as it was so hard to resist. The pool is a bonus, however there were times that I went up at 9.30am to find all the sunbeds with towels on and various personal items. On one occasion the people didn't actually take their place on the beds until about 11.30am !!! The hotel should consider some time limit on leaving beds empty.(A small point in an otherwise superb stay). A final point, as previously mentioned I was there to attend the wedding of my son. On the day of the wedding we arranged to meet at the Kraft on the terrace prior to getting on the coach to the venue. The staff laid on a wonderful surprise for us and it was so kind and we all really appreciated it. Thank you one and all for making our stay so very special and...
