It is my first time to review on Google. I only gave 2 stars because my previous one-star review was DELETED.100% of time I do not want to conflict with people. The hotel management forced me this way
I recently stayed at the Hilton Anglo American Hotel in Florence (Curio Collection by Hilton), and my experience was far below the standard I expect from a Hilton property. I will not recommend this hotel to anyone. I want to make sure that anyone potentially interested in staying here is fully aware of the issues I faced and the poor customer service I encountered. As a newly opened five-star hotel, the current peer ratings and reviews compared to peers in the same level already suggest there are significant flaws with the property.
I had booked a Classic King-size room well in advance, but upon arrival, I was assigned a Classic Queen-size room. When I noticed the discrepancy on the last night of my stay, I immediately raised the issue with the front desk. The Front Office Manager (FOM), dismissed my concerns, insisting that my travel agent (Capital One Travel Portal) had sent the wrong reservation. However, I confirmed with Capital One multiple times, and they assured me they had sent the exact reservation I had booked. This discrepancy was not a mistake on their end, but rather a failure on Hilton's part to properly handle the reservation.
Furthermore, the front desk system appeared to have technical issues that contributed to the problem. It did not flag the room size discrepancy at check-in, which should have been identified at that point. The manager’s insistence that the issue was a mistake from my travel agent, rather than acknowledging any internal errors or system glitches, only added to my frustration.
Despite providing clear documentation of my original booking, FOM did not take responsibility for the mistake or offer any meaningful resolution. Instead, she offered 5,000 Hilton points (20 USD or 3% of my reservation) as compensation, which felt trivial given the inconvenience and the clear breach of contract.
Additionally, I had to follow up with them even though they promised I would hear back within 3 days of my checkout. The lack of follow-up on their part only extended my frustration, and I felt like I was left to chase them for a resolution.
Something which was extremely mind blowing was LIES. FOM said Classic King and Classic Queen share the same room size, which was easily proven wrong. Her comments are illegally involved in false advertising. Then she stated the rate for the two kinds of room are the same, which had nothing to do with my reservations, there was no loss done to me.
While Hilton customer service eventually stepped in and helped resolve some of the issues, the overall experience was exhausting and unpleasant. Even the letter of apology from the manager was complaining instead of realizing her mistake (see the last picture, red is my response). The failure to address the problem promptly, along with the dismissive attitude from the hotel manager, made the stay far less enjoyable than it should have been.
I am responsible for every world and can provide written evidence. I believe there are better choices in Florence. I will still be interested in having future stays with the brand. However, based on my experience with this property, I highly encourage others to explore alternative accommodations in the area.
New Edits in Jan 2025, STOP deleting my honest feedback, hotel management. You still owe me the apology. If anyone reads the reviews and the response carefully, they will realize the hotel never admits mistakes and tries to use every single way to get away with taking responsibility. I think it is fair to admits mistakes rather than fighting your customers. The follow up matters the most

Read moreDuring my recent trip to Florence, I had the pleasure of staying at the Anglo American Hotel. Overall, my experience at this hotel was delightful, and I would gladly recommend it to fellow travelers.First and foremost, the location of the Anglo American Hotel is superb. Situated in the heart of Florence, it offers easy access to the city's major attractions, including the Duomo, Ponte Vecchio, and Uffizi Gallery. The hotel's central location made it convenient for me to explore the city on foot and truly immerse myself in its rich history and culture. The hotel itself has a charming and elegant ambiance. The interior is tastefully decorated, combining classic elements with modern touches. The common areas, such as the lobby and lounge, are inviting and provide a comfortable space to relax after a day of sightseeing. The staff at the Anglo American Hotel deserves special praise. From the moment I arrived, they were friendly, professional, and attentive. They were always ready to assist with any queries or requests I had, and their local knowledge and recommendations were invaluable in helping me navigate the city and discover hidden gems.My room at the hotel was spacious and well-appointed. The bed was comfortable, and the room amenities, including a flat-screen TV and minibar, met my expectations. The cleanliness and tidiness of the room were maintained throughout my stay, thanks to the diligent housekeeping staff. While the hotel does not have an on-site restaurant, it does offer a delicious breakfast buffet each morning. The breakfast spread was varied and catered to different tastes and dietary preferences. I particularly enjoyed the freshly baked pastries and the selection of local cheeses and cured meats. One minor drawback was the absence of a fitness center or spa facilities within the hotel. However, the staff was helpful in providing information about nearby fitness centers and wellness options, ensuring that guests have access to these amenities if desired. In summary, my stay at the Anglo American Hotel Florence was a delightful experience. The prime location, attentive staff, and comfortable accommodations contributed to a memorable visit to this beautiful city. While the absence of certain amenities was a minor drawback, it did not significantly impact my overall satisfaction with the hotel. I would recommend the Anglo American Hotel to travelers seeking a centrally located, well-appointed hotel with a charming ambiance...
Read moreThis hotel being marketed as a 5 star hotel is about as funny as it gets. The service wasn’t bad, I don’t have much to say about that. The Location is decent and about 30 minutes away from sightseeing and restaurants etc. The elevator is about the size of a shoe box and can fit like 1 person and luggage. If you’re even remotely claustrophobic, take the stairs. The rooms are very very tiny and not easily livable when you’re travelling internationally and have suitcases. The hotel door requires you to be a professional linebacker to even close the door. The water In shower needs to be ran for a good 20 minutes before entering and that will make it tolerable otherwise you’re showering in freezing water. Don’t even get me started on the water pressure which was non existent. The fridge barely kept anything cold at all. The room had an intimate wash in the bathroom with the seal already broken leading me to believe it was already there from the previous people in the room. The sheets and pillow cases had stains on them. And the breakfast? Unless you want a plate full of bacon kiwi, and cheese, nothing else was very appetizing. They only came around to clean our room once, mind you we did have the sign up that we didn’t want it cleaned because I’d just rather not have people in my room, but we were only left 1 note on one singular day saying they respected that wish and did not come in, and we were there for 3 nights. So if you’re someone who likes to have your room tended to daily, I do not think they do that. Anyway thats what I gotta say. Was it the worst thing I’ve ever seen? No. Would I ever go back or recommend this to anyone? Absolutely not.
