We were three people, we had 2 Florentine steaks, potatoes, broccoli and various drinks. We spent 175 euros. So far so good, no issues with the price. Service was good, price is within the general Florentine range, everyone was nice and thoughtful. Problem was the steak. We are big meat eaters, and big travellers as well. Steak was just ok, nothing special. We had two different types, the sorana 85euro steak and the one that they have developed by storing the meat for a longer period in the freezer. The sorana steak came out well done even thought we asked it to be "al sangue". And it wasn't bloody, it was well done and barely pink in the middle. Meat was good, fresh, and thanks to that it wasn't chewy at all, but still doesn't go into my top 5 steaks in Florence, so I give it a good 4 star rating. Second steak was the 65 euro stored in the freezer - and it came out basically raw. Which is what we wanted, however it was incredibly chewy, with exception of the parts that were cooked a little bit more. Which was strange because it was supposed to be the other way around - the raw parts tender and soft, the overcooked parts - chewy. The taste of the second steak was more interesting, but the grill wasn't uniform and as a result some parts were impossible to chew. So I give it 3 stars. Then we had broccoli - my favourite vegetable, and to be honest they were definitely overcooked, no crunch, no seasoning, they were boiled or steamed to the point in which you could make a purée out of them - so 2 star for the broccoli. And potatoes were 3 star as well. Overall an average 3 star experience. I felt kinda sad, because I eat Florentine steak every 2-3 months maybe, so the choice of the restaurant was eventful. I picked them because previously I ordered pork ribs and pork salsiccia from them using Deliveroo and those were absolutely a 5 star delicious experience. Will continue ordering their pork, will try other places for the...
Read moreI was in Florence for a video shoot and wanted to eat at a restaurant on a day off during my visit. The first red flag was, when one of the staff said to a waiter:”Get a table for this child.” Maybe I was clothed too informally or maybe because I am short person he was thinking that, but it is unacceptable saying that in front of your customer. The waiter brought me to my table and I really enjoyed the interior of the restaurant, it had nice paintings on the wall and the Florence flair I have been enjoying the past few days. My enjoyment was interrupted when the waiter brought me the menu, without saying anything, just slamming it on my table...ok then. I chose the Tortellini alla Medici along with a bottle of water, I gave the waiter my order and he returned shortly with the bread, you usually get at restaurants. The bread was terrible, extremely dry and hard, like it had been standing there for the whole day, I didn’t finish it. When the waiter brought me water, he opened the bottle, without letting me hear the cap opening and also just set it on my table without saying anything. To my surprise, when I received food, the waiter at least said:”Here you are.” I must say, while the service so far was questionable, the food was delicious, the plate made it look like a small portion, but it was a good amount of food. When it came to paying for everything, the waiter wanted me to come to the cash register, because I wanted to pay with my Amex. Excuse me, but the gentleman next to me, didn’t need to stand up and walk to the cash register. He still sat at the table while paying. In summary, the food was great, but I feel like I got treated like a second class person for some reason, I did not feel welcome at any point. If you are wearing maybe fancy clothes, are tall and maybe in general look like you have money, they will treat you better. I did not enjoy the service and can’t recommend...
Read moreReview of La Spada, Florence I recently dined at La Spada in Florence, and it was an unforgettable experience, thanks to my cousin’s Stefano stellar recommendation. Tucked away in the heart of the city, this charming restaurant delivered some of the best food I’ve ever tasted, paired with warm, impeccable service. From the moment we walked in, the staff greeted us with genuine hospitality, making us feel right at home. The ambiance was cozy yet refined, perfectly capturing the essence of Tuscan dining. The menu was a love letter to Florentine cuisine, and every dish we tried was a masterpiece of flavor and tradition. The pasta was perfectly al dente, the meats were cooked to perfection, and the ingredients tasted like they were sourced straight from a Tuscan farm. The true star of the meal, however, was the chestnut pudding—hands down the best dessert I’ve ever had. Its creamy texture, rich nutty flavor, and subtle sweetness were pure magic, leaving me dreaming about it days later. It’s a must-try for anyone visiting La Spada. The service was equally exceptional, with attentive yet unintrusive staff who went above and beyond to ensure our evening was perfect. Every recommendation they made was spot-on, and their passion for the food shone through in every interaction. If you’re in Florence and looking for an authentic, unforgettable dining experience, La Spada is a gem. I’m already looking forward to my next visit to savor that chestnut pudding again!...
