We only stopped by Pitta M'Ingolli for a drink â and let me tell you: it was a profound experience. We ordered an Amaretto Sour, an Aperol Spritz, and â brace yourselves â a German HofbrĂ€u beer served in a MaĂkrug. And that beer⊠oh my god.
In a country where beer usually tastes like liquid regret from a can, this ice-cold HofbrĂ€u felt like a divine gift straight from the Bavarian heavens. The first sip was a revelation. Like a cool mountain stream from the Alps, flowing gently but purposefully down your throat. The hops? Spicy, full-bodied, with that honest bitterness you only find in a truly great German brew. You donât just taste home â you are home.
As I raised the glass, I could almost hear the distant echo of a beer garden, smell invisible pretzels, and see a white-and-blue sky unfolding above me. For a brief moment, I wasnât a tourist in Italy â I was back in Germany, sitting on a wooden bench, MaĂ in hand, a brass band playing somewhere nearby. It was beautiful.
Pitta M'Ingolli managed to transport us back to Germany with just one drink â and in the best possible way. Thank you for this experience. Weâll be...
Read moreI agree with all the other reviewers that this is a great place to hang out. Doesn't feel touristy, full of locals. However, when the bartender, dark bearded one, serves someone with a different accent who is obviously not from the neighbourhood different portions of wine, that is akin to racism. Treating people differently just on their appearance. I've been there 4 nights and the portions served to me have varied although I have observed that all the portions served to Italians are exactly the same. Why is this? Please think about your behaviour and treat people who are not from your neighbourhood as you would be expected to be treated when you travel to other countries. When I was served by another bartender I was given a large...
Read moreWhat a gem of a little cafe/bar on the beautiful Piazza Santo Spirito. A friendly local cafe where we didn't feel out of of place as non Italian speaking tourists. A few tables, bar stools inside, outside several more tables for relaxed sitting and people watching. I am always searching for the 'perfect' espresso shot, this cafe came very close...several double macchiato over a few visits didn't disappoint, but try also the panini - the melanzani, buffalo, sundried tomatoes one is to die for - and the cheesecake with fresh strawberries (fragole as I learned from the friendly barista) is quite special too. The hot chocolate is also the real thing...thick, rich and none of this over sweet stuff sold in the UK. We will visit again -...
