My recent visit to this restaurant turned out to be a complete disappointment. From start to finish, the experience was marred by the staff's sarcastic and unwelcoming attitude, as well as a series of mistakes with our order.
Upon entering the restaurant, we encountered an old Italian man who seemed to think he was funny. However, his attempt at humor resulted in him wetting my entire shirt, which was completely uncalled for and unprofessional.
As we tried to navigate the menu, which was predominantly in Italian, we requested the assistance of the staff to order a vegetarian cheese pizza and a cheese board. Unfortunately, instead of being helpful, the staff member we interacted with responded sarcastically and showed no willingness to accommodate our request.
When our food finally arrived, we were dismayed to discover that the cheese board contained only two types of cheese, which were disproportionately expensive for what was offered. Moreover, the vegetarian cheese pizza we specifically ordered ended up having salami on it. This was a grave mistake, considering my wife's severe allergy to salami, and it was not something we had ever intended to eat. This negligence in adhering to basic dietary requirements is unacceptable and potentially dangerous.
To make matters worse, when we addressed the issue and requested a corrected order, the staff seemed indifferent and did not provide any satisfactory resolution. The response was lackluster, and we were left feeling incredibly dissatisfied.
In addition to the inaccurate order, the portion of vegetables we requested was also disappointing. We specifically asked for more vegetables, but we received only three pieces of eggplant, which hardly met our expectations.
Given this terrible experience, I strongly advise against visiting this restaurant. The lack of attentiveness, careless mistakes, and overall poor service make it clear that they do not prioritize customer satisfaction. I regret having chosen this establishment and will not be returning. I hope they take these criticisms seriously and make necessary improvements to avoid similar incidents...
Read moreTo begin with, the waiters are absolutely not friendly. Next, this restaurant was sold to us as the best meat restaurant and where they make homemade pasta. Since we have tried pasta many places in Italy, we decided that this dinner we should definitely have this famous Florentine advertised meat. We got the tartare and asked for a recommendation on what else we could have. The waiter suggested the filet rye bye with bearnaise sauce. Since I don't like this sauce and don't think it's the best combination to the meat, I asked to alternate it if possible. When it was time to order the main course, I asked for steak without sauce and the waiter decided to insist on another dish: grilled fillet with three pepper sauce. I was brought out obviously not fillet, filled with something that looked like sauce. I had to eat this nightmare without much joy. What part of the cow it was, we can only guess. The whole task of the evening was to cut off all the fat and find at least meat there. Upon finding it, it had no flavor, and neither did the sauce. The menu also mentioned some sort of smoked butter. There was no butter, but there was a piece of old bread and three potatoes, which were not mentioned at all in the description of the dish. I also don't eat potatoes. The meat in the tartare turned out to be just as hollow and flavorless. When asked if we liked everything, we honestly replied that the meat was terrible, and it would be right of them to recommend pizza or pasta, for the meat is definitely not from the crowning dish. Almost everyone around us took pizza or pasta, we saw no meat from anyone. Perhaps the idea of steaming it out to us was because it was expensive and not disposable. But they had made a mistake. Since I live in France and I know what delicious meat is and what a professionally prepared three pepper sauce looks like. After our revelation, the waiters stopped serving us. It was very Italian: arrogant and unprofessional. As summary: restaurant is very touristic, therefore quality...
Read moreWe wish we had discovered this restaurant earlier during our visit to Florence. Its location right on Piazza della Signoria is already worth the visit: the views are breathtaking, the square is lively, and the interior blends authentic Tuscan charm with cured hams hanging and colorful preserves on display with a warm and modern atmosphere.
The culinary offering is broad and highlights some of the best of Tuscan cuisine. They serve homemade pasta, excellent charcoal grilled meats and a wide variety of classic pizzas, all prepared with clear respect for local ingredients. We ordered the pappardelle with wild boar and the rib eye, which came with roasted potatoes and half a grilled tomato. Both dishes were excellent and very reasonably priced given the location.
Service was outstanding. Lapo took care of us with kindness and gave spot on recommendations that elevated the experience. Another detail we loved is that the restaurant also sells typical Tuscan products such as cured meats, preserves and sauces, making it easy to bring a taste of Florence back home.
Overall it is a complete experience that combines location, authentic flavors and warm hospitality. A place we would gladly return to and...
