When I was in Florence, I stumbled upon this restaurant after spotting truffles on the menu!as a huge truffle fan I couldn’t resist. There were free tables so I didn’t have to wait. here’s what I ordered on pics below. I decided to try the Tuscan soup out of curiosity but honestly it wasn’t to my taste. The restaurant prepared it well, but it’s quite different from the soups we’re used to(yeah I kno that’s the idea)So, if you’re expecting a classic soup, I’d probably skip this one. No criticism of the restaurant though. it’s just not a dish I personally enjoyed. The tiramisu was rather good. not the best I’ve had in Italy but still very decent. The real star was the truffle pasta. It was absolutely outstanding. Sadly in Italy you sometimes come across pasta that’s a bit underwhelming and as someone who’s tried it in many cities across the country, I can say this place really knows how to do it properly. If you want to enjoy excellent truffle pasta, this is the place to come. On the downside, the toilets were disappointing. The room was tiny, with a baby changing table awkwardly blocking the way, so you had to squeeze past it to reach the loo. There was nowhere to put a bag, and the light kept switching off every few seconds, which was frankly ridiculous. I also felt the staff could have been a bit more attentive — I had to look for someone to continue my service. And the guy who served me didn’t speak English well…I know it’s not a must but it is a touristy area. When I asked a waiter what Italian beers they had hoping to try something local he replied, “We have Fanta,” which was baffling. I didn’t bother ordering a drink after that. despite these small issues I’d definitely recommend this restaurant, especially for the truffle pasta!it was...
Read moreAbsolutely phenomenal. Everything. The food. The service. Honestly one of the most memorable meals me & my partner have EVER had!! An MUST visit in Florence! My boyfriend & I ordered the Ravioli to share as course 1 (with some Tuscan white wine). We initially said we would order a pasta dish each… and put waiter advised to share one as we intended to order the Florentine steak between us (1.2kg minimum). It arrived and there were 4 pieces. 4 pieces of heaven, honestly. I was sad there were only 4 (that we SHARED) because I wanted more! They then came out and presented the steak we were about to eat uncooked! A short wait later, our perfectly cooked florentine steak arrived… and oh my god it did not disappoint. The best steak we’ve had. Perfectly crispy. Perfectly cooked (we asked for medium rare). Perfectly seasoned. Compliments to the chef. We then went on to order a cheesecake (strawberry option) and I had the ‘Chef’s choice’ of dessert- which was a chocolate soufflé with coconut ice cream. Again- 11/10. Hot and melted middle. Coconut ice cream fantastic with coconut pieces. Our waiter was superb, friendly, gave fab advice! We’re honestly looking into seeing if we can fit in coming back for lunch tomorrow.. before we fly home to the uk!
(Ps. For 3x courses and a bottle of wine we paid ~ €80 each!)
Please please come if you’ve never been. You will not regret.
Thank you to all the team at Casa Del Vin Santo - you’ve all been incredible - especially when my boyfriend accidentally smashed a wine glass on the floor!
Much love to all the staff members at Casa Del...
Read morethe Foreman makes me too uncomfortable to gave up the idea of having a meal here. I don't want to spend money to get angry.
We reserved a table. The address of this restaurant is rather hard to find. The Google maps lead us to the Rooster. Actually, I already wanted to have a meal there and didn't wanna walk anymore. My friend said it would be better to go if we can't cancel booking. So we late less half hour that I can fully understand we have to wait for a table. But after the manager said that we would wait for 10 minutes, he asked us to stand on the street at the door.
Ok, fine. Perhaps he wanted to create an atmosphere where many people in his restaurant were queuing up. But ten minutes later, he said to my back, "You must finish the drink in your hand before you can go in. Come back in two minutes later." And other guests who after us were invited to come first.
Excuse me, didn't you see the Starbucks in my hand when I confirmed the reservation? Why didn't you tell me at that time? Why you insist on communicating with me in English with a heavy accent while I'm speaking Italian. I can only understand that you don't want to talk to me, so every time you left without waiting for me to finish speaking.
Without having tasted the dishes, I think the service attitude and geographical location are the only reasons that attract guests to enter the restaurant. Obviously, you...
