How else can we describe this place other than "Mi ha tolto le parole di bocca"
My partner and I (who is italian) had one of those classic; were getting hungry, we didnt want to plan and see where wind takes us. Which as the majority of couples know can end badly, start small arguments because youre both super hungry. After avoiding the tourist traps, there was something about this place that just seemed right. Which sounds rather abstract but theres a certain warmth that comes with this.
This warmth comes from the hostess and her partner who run the place. Both super friendly and you'd absolutely want to eat with them at the table.
The pasta is exceptional, - I would highly suggest the fresh pasta: Tagliatelle con cinghiale but honestly you can not go wrong.
The fiorentina is an absolute must. you may think "oh yeah weve had that before" or "i dont fancy some steak" but trust me, go for it and you wont regret it.
In absolute love with the place and made an already amazing trip to Florence accend above expectations.
Best of luck to you guys, Desy (pink hair) & Mike...
Read moreThe view~ Just have a look at our first image. It’s a special little alleyway with an amazing view.
The people~ We made friends with the host and server Luca and Esmerelda. They were so wonderful. Answered all our questions, helped with food and wine pairing, and even educated us on proper pronunciation of Italian words and phases. We later learned that they are a couple, that Esmeralda’s brother and cousin also work at the restaurant and that it is truly a family run business. We hope we can visit them again one day.
The wine~ The wine was excellent. We had a bottle of Chianti for the table and it paired perfectly with our pasta dishes. It was a perfect choice for sipping the entire meal and we are grateful Esmeralda helped us choose it.
The food~ The food was spectacular, my dish specifically was again recommended by Esmerelda and she paired my pasta ragu with the wine.
I highly recommend visiting Taverna Dei Servi...
Read moreNice experience, I guess, but I would not say it compared well with the best Midwestern US beef I have ever had (that was in IL).
I went for the top of the line - Chianina cut @ €8/100gr. Like similar places, you can't just order how much you'd like to eat. They cut a slice off and charge you however much it weighs.
The cut served was nice, a cooler rare, and tender. The taste, however, didn't knock my socks off.
Service was less than one would expect when paying €145 for just the steak. Unused place settings that should have been removed were left to be in the way during the meal... Paper napkins... The waiter didn't know how to properly serve the wine. And despite having a reservation, we were asked to leave while still chatting and drinking grappa after the meal (a first in Italy for me). Maybe they thought I'd feel more at home being asked to shuffle off quickly...
