Panini Toscani a small store beside the Duomo that serves up some really good sandwiches for a great price. The shop is small and quite popular, so it can be quite crowded and quite confusing as where to begin. But you start of at the very back, single file due to the space and they let you sample different types of meats and cheese before they start your panini order. There are also limited tables and chairs outside for seating.
Every staff member was great and super helpful, except for the guy that was letting us sample the cheese and meats. He was one of the tallest staff, possible one of the owner. He cracked jokes and meant to be "funny", but it was towards only to a selected few that he chose to be friendly .
During the sampling, they label their cheese from 1 to 4 and when a girl (in front of me) asked what type of cheese she was eating -he refused to answer then egged on another male customer to laugh at her when she took long to decide. When it was my turn for sampling, he easily chatted up the older couple standing next to me, but pretty much ignored me for the rest of the duration when I asked a question. It was very odd and awkward to say the least and I suspect others might encounter and feel the same way with that particular person.
Overall, they serve a great product in a very busy touristy location that is affordable and worth trying despite the bizarre service at...
Read moreIf you are in Florence this place is an ABSOLUTE MUST. Easily the best panini place I’ve ever been to, and after travelling to nearly 13 countries in search of the perfect snack meal, that says a lot.
Why? Three reasons. Delicious food. AmazIng experience. Kind staff.
The food: the panini itself is absolutely delicious. Freshly made bread complimented with fresh cheese and meat that tastes like it was cut yesterday. The toppings are simple yet so delicious that you will have yourself questioning how such a simple meal can taste so good.
The experience: the shop, although small feels like a mom & pop Italian restaurant straight out of the movies. Before you get to order the panini, you go through a tasting. A hilariously kind gentleman will cut slices of fresh cheese and meat and share them with your group. He gives a brief description of what each item is and where it comes from. I won’t spoil it, but I’d recommend the number 1 meat paired with the number 4 cheese - it’s amazing.
The staff: everyone here feels like they took a class on how to be a professional nice person. The whole staff is kind and they are genuinely interested in making your experience as good as possible. It feels very Italian and very fun.
I guarantee that you won’t regret going here. Take the plunge and head to panini...

Right next to the majestic Florence Cathedral, Panini Toscani feels like a hidden gem – even though it sits in the heart of the city.
The concept is simple but brilliant: before you even order, you’re treated to a free tasting of all the fillings – from aged pecorino to different types of salami, prosciutto from the tuscany region and more. You choose your favorites, and they craft your panino fresh and with real care.
At €11–12, it’s not the cheapest panino we’ve had – but absolutely worth every cent. The quality is outstanding, and the experience itself makes it memorable.
The owner is a true character – full of energy and charm – and still runs the counter himself every day. His passion is contagious, and the service is genuinely warm and welcoming.
They also offer glasses of local white and rosé wine for just €8 – and honestly, the rosé is the better pairing for the rich, savory panini.
A perfect stop to rest, indulge, and enjoy a moment of real Tuscan hospitality – just steps away from...
