The Fiddler's Elbow Irish Pub — Restaurant in Florence

Rude staff. We were there with 2 goups of about 10 people. Staff impolite during ordering from the start. Although the bar was only 50 % full, staff kept on complaining in a rude way about us blocking their way. This was only to a small extent true and it is not abnormal when standing with a larger group in a narrow bar. When i made the remark that we were consuming, I got the answer that they didn't need our money so..... we left immediatly. Tip for the owner: check your cameras of the evening of first of May. You do probably would have liked the 100s of euro's we spend in another bar later that night. Tip for the staff: if you do not like to serve people, please search...

The staff is nice at this pub with the head-barman being quite knowledgeable about the different IPAs. They even gave everyone a glass of whisky when the clock struck 12 am for Christmas day. They have a good choice of beers and the only thing missing was cooked food. However their sandwich with crudo was a very good second. Overall in Florence this is the best best pub I found. Whilst the pub does have its share of expats the crowd and culture is more American than British so shame on us in Britain for being so close to Italy and to even have a foot in Chiantishire but not to help Florence acquire a proper gastro-pubby culture. The drinks were great! Had a normal beer with one cocktail and the quality wasn't bad at all, good bartender.

The low rating is due to the sanitation of this shop. I rarely give such negative reviews but the place is very dirty and has cockroaches! After we noticed this, I checked the reviews here and saw that the cockroaches were viewed by several people in the past and it happened years ago! Apparently nothing was done to make this place clean.
