We randomly passed this restaurant over a year ago and put it on our list of places to try. Apparently it’s a neighborhood favorite, a place closely connected to the community, especially during lockdown when it prepared meals for people in need. The owners/workers are supposedly part of the Bianchi team of the calcio storico. All cool stuff, but what about the food? The presentation, as you can see from the photos, was quite beautiful. The tortelli were lacking strong flavors, but that’s also because eggplant, I find, doesn’t taste like too much - so, my fault. The Caserecce were simple, but very tasty! The tagliata was spot on, very nice. Two options of red house wine. Good prices. Good quality. Friendly waitstaff. They were really accommodating with a table with specific dietary needs next to my own, as well as being great with the few children in the restaurant.
It's particularly busy in Florence right now so if you have your stuff together you might make a reservation or show up right at opening, and while they didn't turn anyone away they did tell a few they had to be out by X o' clock.
Would return. Will return. Delicious, affordable and a lovely...
Read moreTucked away, this humble place houses many photos of super famous foodies, excellent staff and serves delicious dishes. The entrees are simple in appearance, complex and rich in taste and they are just the right portion size. The experience of each ever is that it's homemade but also that it has the efficiency & exactitude from a great restaurant chef.
Tried: mezza & beef tongue (I was pleasantly surprised by how good this is), tortellini with ragu, spaghetti... All winners!
They offered Fernet Branca, among other spirits, as a digestive. What excellent recommendation by the waiter and what great fortune... This was my first encounter with the exciting candy cane tasting bitters and it immediately had me bittersweetly thinking of...
