A fair rating of 3.5 stars. We had an early booking by Italian standards at 7.30pm. A warm welcome was definitely missing from our male manager/ host, despite our smiles and our buonasera. Our main female waitress was professional but generally cold overall. We ordered in Italian and said grazie often with a smile - we made a concerted effort to converse in Italian. My wife noticed that the native Italians were receiving a lot of personal attention smiles and warmth from the main waitress and the male manager. We understand that there is a language barrier which we are responsible for, but we did try our very best to speak Italian and we did use basic manners and apologise for our “bad Italian”. The male manger did not check on us except to bring us the bill, but checked on every other table during the night. There was a secondary waitress that was so warm and lovely that spoke only Italian, and we felt no barrier as she appreciated our gratitude and we appreciated hers. We thanked her and said goodbye in the true Italian way! So, service wise apart from the kind secondary waitress, was pretty poor towards tourists but for Italians, service appeared to be warm, caring and attentive. Food wise, the cod tart was very good (except for a large stray bone), as was the vegetable tart. The spaghettone with pistachio, dried tomato & olives was excellent. The fish of the day (ocean trout) with olives and mash potato was fresh- I would suggest the addition green peppercorns, green olives, a dollop of cream to the mash, a good pinch of rock salt and a finish with a good virgin olive oil would lift the dish. The tiramisu was good. Bottle of Vermentino a little expensive for the quality. Nebbiolo grappa was excellent. We would recommend tourists go elsewhere for a nicer overall experience, but for native speakers it should be very enjoyable. To the management: we got your message and we’re passing it on to other unsuspecting tourists. Grazie Mille! This is a fair & constructive review, where we have outlined both good and bad aspects of...
Read moreWe chose this restaurant due to it’s 4.6 stars review (at the moment), but after we ate there we read more reviews. It seems that the restaurant lost its quality over time, but it is best for yourself to read other reviews aswell.
As a tourist, I do not recommend this place. The staff doesn’t speak english and it was somehow hard to order. The menu was also only in italian.
After we managed to order, the food came pretty quick, as it was already prepared. We ordered cuttlefish, pork meat and shrimp pasta. The cuttlefish was hot, but the other 2 dishes were kind of cold.
The cuttlefish dish was too salty for my taste, as it was taken from a can. The shrimp pasta only had 5-6 small bites of shrimp, and the rest was pasta. For my taste, the shrimp also had a...
Read moreI went to Antica Osteria Ravecca in Genoa with a friend. I had the mandilli pasta in their beautiful signature pesto, and then the steak. We enjoyed our food, which was delicious, well-cooked, and came in generous portions. The restaurant is located in the historic Ravecca district, offering a cozy and authentic atmosphere. The staff were friendly, attentive, and even let me practise my Italian, which made the meal even more enjoyable. We also tried a local wine, which complemented the meal perfectly and added another layer of enjoyment. Prices were reasonable for the quality and quantity of food. Overall, it was a delightful experience, and I’d recommend Antica Osteria Ravecca to anyone looking for authentic Ligurian cuisine in a...
