I honestly do not understand these reviews. Surprise, the restaurant in front of the Porto Antico, a tourist attraction, is full… Of course the service is a little cold, it’s only natural. They’re organizing people into tables and can only take so many orders at a time. That being said, I didn’t find the service to be rude or slow. I had two waiters help me; they were both fast to seat me, give me menus, and take my order AND they were nice. The food was quick to arrive, and I never had to correct my order or send something back. Please have in mind that I went to this restaurant expecting high prices and low quality, given the tourist place it is situated in. I also expected rude and unattended service because I went to Genova on a national holiday. However, the food was nice and I felt like everything went smoothly.

Now onto the food. I ordered an Aperol Spritz and a plate of fried calamari. I’ve had better Aperols and better calamari, but these were nice and done well. I also ordered dessert, which was actually really good.

The moral of the story is; this is a restaurant that in no way deserves the hate it’s getting on these reviews. For such a touristy place, it’s filled with...

We were hungry and the food was edible but that is where the positives with this place end... The staff was quite unprofessional and dismissive and the bill had ridiculous things such as "table fee" that cost us one euro per person and we were charged for bread sticks that we asked our server to not give us. We ordered Caesar salad, which was adequate, swordfish with seasonal vegetables which was also fine although the vegetables were an absolute soggy mess and there were absolutely not enough of them, the chicken that was thin but flavourful and french fries that were obviously frozen. If you don't mind unnecessary fees, just want to eat and happen to be walking by this, sure, pop right in, but otherwise, go to someplace else. This place has 2,5 stars as of the moment of me writing this review...

Classic tourist trap!

You can eat much better quality, bigger portions , cheaper and faster at the nearby mcdonalds.

Bigo cafe serves frozen food, small portions , scamming their customers and mediocre view.

Staff straight up lied to me about the drinks sizes , told me “ the 4 euro medium pepsi is way more than the 3,5 euro can lattina 330ml coca cola “ . it was less… ( 300ml for 4 euros )

Got charged for the service fee 1,5euro per person , and i was charged for 1 more person than we actually were . Like what??

Worst place ive eaten in whole italy BY FAR!

Service was good BUT we were almost alone , other reviews state mediocre service or slow.

( the prices arent that crazy BUT they don’t match the portions and quality )

( they have 2 bigo restaurants in google maps shown to have...

The service is not very good. At 2 o'clock in the afternoon, I ordered only coffee to take a break, and the barista asked me with obvious hostility: "Why, just coffee?". It seemed to me that I was poor. In the evening I came here to admire the sunset and have a delicious meal, forgetting about the experience with ordering coffee. The view of the sea, of course, is wonderful, and the alcohol was delicious; but the fragments of mussels that cut my mouth from the inside, and the crunching sand on my teeth from the rest of the seafood - it feels terrible. I was disappointed as a tourist. It would be possible to take better care of clients on the day of the formation of the Italian Republic. One star for Spritz, the second one for the outside’s view.

Considering Genoa is one of the main producers of genovese basil this margherita pizza looked sad. I had to ask twice to make sure it was correct. The server insisted this was how they made it, looks nothing like the pictures they have on their restaurant wall. No oregano, minimal crushed tomatoes, mozzarella was different and NO Basil?? The location is great, gelato amazing. Service was poor, never got plates cleared, no follow up for drinks or dessert, had to go ask for my check and explain my order like it was fast food. It was not a busy night, prices were good compared to the area but now I realize why.
