UNspecialty coffee? Here it is.
This is not a specialty coffee place. The coffee is just as average as any Italian coffee in any bar. In fact, the coffee at the train station bar is even better. If you want to learn about specialty coffee, go to Bugan Coffee Lab in Rome, or start buying good coffee from great Italian specialty coffee roasters such as Aliena, Nero Scuro, Le Piantagioni Del Caffè, or (sometimes) Dita Artiginale.
There is no single origin coffee here, just some mix they make based on who knows what and try to convince others that this is specialty coffee.
It hurts to say, but even Starbucks is better, which is the pinnacle of dark burnt coffee market.
The location is convenient as it is close to the train station, and the design seems decent. However, neither the coffee nor the food is worth coming here for.
They should just specialize in all the mass-market drinks with some coffee inside. If they had done so (meaning, the "specialty coffee" keyword would not have identified them on Google Maps), this review would have been a bit better, as expectations would have been lower.
As a side note.
They serve drinks in single-use plastic cups! I assume, to avoid washing them. Isn't it that everyone is trying to decease the amount of plastic used?
And if you decide to use the bathroom after drinking this UNspecialty coffee, be ready to miss your train. There is only one bathroom, and it is always full.
P.S. this review is based not on a single visit. I usually give a place some space and time to recover. But it is just getting...
Read moreI had a fantastic breakfast at CaFHeIn near Genova's main train station. I ordered a cappuccino and a prosciutto sandwich and both were excellent. The cappuccino came in a turquoise cup with smooth creamy foam and perfect latte art. The taste was rich and balanced exactly what I needed while waiting around during a train delay.
The sandwich was made with fresh bread that was soft on the inside and filled with flavorful prosciutto. It was served neatly on a wooden tray with branded paper which added a modern stylish touch.
What really made the difference was the staff who were incredibly polite and friendly. Even though the place was busy they were calm helpful and genuinely welcoming. You can tell they care about the customer experience.
If you are near Via Balbi or the train station definitely stop by CaFHeIn. Great coffee great food and great people. Five stars...
Read moreA cute modern bar to have a great coffee with fresh pastries. It’s pretty close to the central train station so you can either take your coffee by the arrival time to fresh your self up before starting your excursion or befor heading back to your place at the end of your journey in Genova! friendly staff and clean environment are the positive points of Cafhein! You can also choose the seats outside of the bar if you need some fresh air. But you’ll be amazed by the cute accessories of the place (a lovely interior decoration). They also have their specialties of coffees (Not local though). But I ordered Tigrato with cinnamon and I’m...
