Okay first off, before we could even sit down, there was a problem with the reservation. I called 30 minutes earlier, which btw, took ages to find the actual number, since the number on google maps is INVALID! So you have to visit their website. Now, once we got to the place, it was located in a dark alleyway, which was very scary and once we came in, to check-in, the guy working there said, that there was no reservation for 10 people! I showed him my calls to the restaurant and after around 10 minutes they finally said: “Okay go out front of the church”. Now I understand this, because it was hot out, but damn, in-front of the church? Anyways, the food was very good. The pasta with pesto tasted like heaven. But I can’t say the same for steak. Let’s see the pros and cons of eating the steak:
Pros: it had a slab of potatoes that were oven cooked and crunchy some of the steak parts were edible.
Cons: sauce was weird (might be my shit taste pallet) some of the steak was pre-chewed (might be a pro) the wait time for the steak is 45+ min
Now after some careful consideration, I think it’s on me with the wait times, since the restaurant is like 600 meters away from sea. So that might be on me. Although if you have steak on the menu, be prepared that people will want it. The atmosphere was, weird. First came a band of people who were singing with instruments and were begging for money. Then a one man band came and did the same thing. Waiters sometimes don’t see you,...
Read moreI rarely give 5 stars for all ratings. This restaurant deserves a good shout. Excellent service and cosy environment. It was an exquisite dining experience and definitely the best meal in Genoa.
All dishes were presented beautifully and with a good balanced flavour. I had the smoked duck as my starter. It was really refreshing and a nice blend of flavour from the cured sauce and citrus peel. I also had the octopus as my main course. Everything blended in so well. The texture and the flavour of each ingredient just complimented each other.
Salute to the chef for the beautiful delicious dishes. I had the pleasure of trying the mirto liquer with olive chocolate truffle presented by the chef. The bursting of flavour and blend was just perfect. The dishes were all very reasonably priced. The genovese foccacia basket was good too. They are very considerate and great with their services.
The staff also kindly introduced possibly allergens of the menu, and it was very clearly indicated on the menu. I don't have any allergies, but this can be helpful to those who are sensitive and have food allergies.
Couldn't recommend this restaurant more! Thank you for the great dining experience. I would come back for more if I'm visiting this city again...
Read moreWe were looking for a nice place for lunch, during our one-day stay in Genoa. We chose the place because of reviews and were not disappointed. First things first - atmosphere. This place is beautiful, well thought through and "warm", and I'm not talking temperature here :). Then staff made us feel welcome, comfortable, switched to English on the first sign of very poor Italian. We were served by several people and all were the nicest creatures ever. Next, food: they have 3 different a la cart menus: tapas-style with little dishes to share, traditional with primo-secondo-dolce and innovative, with appetizers and mains that do not sound that "traditional italiano" at all. You can choose any dishes from any of the menus and combine, 100% flexibility. Lastly, carefully chosen and quite sophisticated wine list. They have everything to any taste, and wines are amazing. We will be back next timewe are in town. Some highlights: burrata with smoked pumpkin, veal cheek risotto, caponata-style salad. Absolute delight! Our only regret is - we had too much to leave room...
