Impeccable! We literally stumbled on this restaurant as we walked away from the Puccini concert in St John's. It is amazingly elegant beautifully decorated with attentive service very good prices and a history that goes back astoundingly to 1414 or even perhaps 700 years before that!
The cook is apparently the mother of the maitrê d' and with only two running the dining room the service is relaxed. But you want that in order to enjoy the beautiful environment. Many popular places like to have a boisterous energy. But Locanda Del Angelo has a restrained quiet elegant energy.
I had the sea bass and it was presented in a way I've never seen, circular! My wife had the sesame encrusted swordfish. Both were delicious! We each had a dessert, an orange creme bruleé and the pistachio semifreddo. They were also beautifully presented and delicious. My wife had two glasses of dry white wine and the price was unbelievably low.
In short this is what we call a serendipity! If we were here for more than a week you can be sure we would go back...
Read moreRead amazing reviews and on walking in, thought that we were in for a great experience. Unfortunately, that was the highlight of our long drawn out dinner. The service was shocking, with us often having to call the waiter to take drinks orders. Our Anti-pasti took almost 1 hour to arrive, unfortunately so did our "primi'. The Ragu sauces were delicious and flavoursome, the Gnocchi was dry and flowery. Maybe it was that the restaurant was very busy and the limited staff couldn't cope, not sure. Either way, it was disgraceful that they acknowledged that there were issues with our service, but only after i broached the subject whilst paying the bill. The prices are above average, which one wouldn't mind paying if it lived up to the hype. Forgettable experience after a beautiful Puccini Opera, which was the perfect set-up - they had very...
Read moreOur experience really did not meet my expectation. Slow service is one thing, but we practically had no service, and the food did not make up for it. The patio of this restaurant is surrounded by greenery and absolutely beautiful. The menu and reviews looked great. So, my expectation was a lovely dinner. But, it took 20 minutes for anyone to even come take our order and there were only 3-4 tables occupied. The waiter made some mistakes with our order, then, he disappeared half way through and it did not seem like we had any waiter at all after that. My husband never even got his glass of wine. The scallop appetizer was delicious and perfectly cooked. But, several other dishes (tagliatelle, risotto) were severely oversalted. The rest of the food...
