My husband, 1 year old son, and I found Garibaldi Lounge while we stopped over on our cruise. I’m so happy we decided to grab some drinks here. From the moment we walked in Rossella and Lorenzo were SO kind to us and welcomed us in. We sat outside which has such a nice view of the busy street where you can people watch and just enjoy the sights of Italy. My husband and I ordered a couple drinks and they were so kind to explain the menu to us and answer any questions we needed and help us with our drink orders. Rossella and Lorenzo were so sweet to our little boy every time they came to our table. We ordered another round of drinks and they brought us some delicious croissant sandwiches that tasted AMAZING. Before we left they even gave us some samples of granita which was also so tasty! They also gave us a cute postcard to thank us for visiting. My husband and I were so amazed by their kindness and hospitality. It was one of the highlights of our 2 week Europe trip for me. I kept thinking about them even days after we left Messina because I was so amazed at the customer service we received. I would love to make the trip out to Messina again just to go to Garibaldi Lounge and see Rossella and Lorenzo if we ever are able to make the trip out to Europe in the future. Please make sure you stop by Garibaldi Lounge if you are ever in Messina, I promise you will...
Read moreDuring our outing in Messina we happened to hear some lovely lounge music coming from a cute cafe. Upon stepping in we were instantly greeted by Rosella and Lorenzo. They welcomed us in, apologized for us catching them as they just opened the doors for business. The lounge/bar featured classic espresso and cordials. Lorenzo tempted us with a treat known as Granita. An icy treat served in a glass of fresh squeezed lemon syrup poured over finely crushed ice and also an espresso version was served to us. Lorenzo added the traditional sweet bun somewhat like a brioche bun to accompany the granita. As we waited for our order we sat outside enjoying the music, the city centre sights and the tourists passing by in a horse drawn ride. Rosella helped us pick out various spiced olive oils and tasty souvenirs as she wrapped them with much care and creativity. With kindness and Messina style charm Lorenzo and Rosella gave us an experience we will always cherish. We felt very at home on the patio with our granitas and brioche and the sun kissing our faces and the warmth of Garibaldi Lounge hospitality! We look forward to coming back to...
Read moreAs we wandered past Bar Girabaldi we were entertained by a sign in front of a small window that said, “Ring bell for cannoli!” 😀
We decided to stop in as they had some nice sundries inside. We were immediately greeted by Lorenzo and Rosella in such a warm way that we sat down for a spritz - it was also 98 degrees outside!
As Lorenzo expertly made our spritz’s, Rosella brought us a sampling of olives, crisps, and crostini. We stayed for another spritz and did a little shopping for chocolates, Sicilian salt, and capers.
As we finished up, Lorenzo gave us some advice about some sights to see nearby along with a little history.
After we wandered around town a bit more we came back, rang the bell, and ordered a couple traditional pistachio cannolis that Lorenzo filled right in front of us!
Bar Girabaldi is a gem of a find and located right across from the...
