Want a fine dining experience with quality food, large portions but without the large price tag? This restaurant opened up 6 months ago and is an incredible find. Imagine nonna quality cooking but just a little bit more refined. The decor is quirky sheek with dog themed portraits on the wall framed by a refined decor, and the 4 person team that make the magic are all professionals. The boyfriend (and sommelier) and girlfriend running front of house are amazing and quickly make you feel at home. They must really love each other and what they do because they gave us some of the best service we have had anywhere. They are smart with an online menu, online ordering options and even online payment options. We have been traveling Italy for almost 2 weeks and searching for gems like this place. The homemade pasta is cooked perfectly and they have well seasoned sauces with depth of flavour. Portions are generous! Cook times are on point and I literally watched a surprise refire done in under 10 minutes from order to table service with a packed house. My wife and I shared an enormous salad, we each had a pasta (I had the wild boar ragout and my wife had cacio e pepe), we shared a Tiramisu (only thing I think they could improve on... it was good but we have had better and amazing meals need amazing desserts) and had a couple drinks. Our bill was higher than other reviews but we wanted to try a true dining experience here and as a comparison many places in the area charge similar or more for far less in terms of quality, service and overall value. Overall this should be a must try restaurant for anyone that ends up...
Read moreThe bottega farina is a very charming restaurant on the side of a not heavily trafficked road. With only six tables, and room for around 16 people (at least in the outdoor dining area) it creates a warm and calmly feeling, which most overcrowded restaurants aren’t able to do. It took me a good while to decide on what I should get, every single creation sounds palatable. We finally decided on Ravioli de Plin and CacioPepe & Tartare di Gamberi. Within less than 10 minutes we got our food served, and what should I say? It was amazing. The plin ravioli matched very well with the sage butter and the parmigiano. The filling tasted absolutely amazing. The sauce on my CacioPepe had an amazing texture, perfect level of thickness! The gamberi tartare was a great contrast to the pasta itself, especially due to the temperature difference. Our waitress was extremely kind, answered all the questions we had, and made us enjoy the evening a lot! Sitting on bar hockers, drinking water out of plastic cups, and eating such delicious pasta with a plastic fork tops this all off. Would definitely recommend to book a table before you‘re going. Easily 5/5 stars, must visit if you are in Milano. I‘m already looking forward to...
Read moreUpdate: in light of the insults written below by the owner, I have taken my review from 3 stars to 1. I think their response speaks for itself :)
Original review below. // A little word of caution here: as noted by the owner, this is a pastificio con cucina, so not really a restaurant. The pasta was good, but I will highlight why we were disappointed so that visitors are prepared in the future! The table area is outside, in a little kiosk mounted for the occasion. There are 6 tables, on high stools. It can get chilly at night. The food is served with plastic (recyclable) cutlery, wine glass & cup. I’ve taken one star off just for this because I personally dislike eating off “plastic”. Not sure why they aren’t using normal cutlery since there’s only 6 tables. Only pasta, no antipasti. Pasta was good but two of our dishes were not served al dente - the pasta was a little too cooked. And it’s not cheap!
Overall it was good, but don’t go expecting a restaurant. Taking two stars off for the pricing and the plastic cutlery (whyyy). Service was very nice and...
