Another sad case of getting fooled for not reading the reviews first. A smooth talking waiter lured us to sit at one of the caffe tables. My wife said she wanted an ice cream. He directed her to a window where the ice creams - and the prices - were displayed. She ordered a pistachio ice cream listed at 8 Euro. ( a bit expensive, we thought , but we wanted to treat her) When the bill came, we were charged … 17 Euros. We asked the waiter and he said that 8 euros was the price if we had ordered at the window. As we ordered from him there was another price in another book ( that he told us we should have asked for ???) We travelled to Bolzano and to Merano and never had any such cheap trick pulled on us in any restaurant. For a few extra Euros, do the Dante cafe realize they give a bad name to an entire industry in a certain country ? And the worst of it, they carry the name of the greatest Italian poet. I wish they changed their name to cafe Zanni.

⭐ 1/5 — Terrible Service and Awful Drinks – Avoid at All Costs We visited caffe Dante and it was by far the worst aperitivo experience we’ve ever had. The service was shockingly bad – the staff were extremely rude, inattentive, and completely unprofessional. We ordered a margarita, which was absolutely disgusting – it tasted like flavored water, and when we questioned it, we realized they had completely forgotten to put alcohol in it! When we pointed this out to the staff, they didn’t care at all, didn’t apologize, and didn’t even attempt to fix it. They clearly have no idea how to make proper cocktails, and honestly, they didn’t seem to care about their customers in the slightest. If you’re looking for a relaxing aperitivo, this is NOT the place. Bad drinks, worst service, and a complete waste of time and money. Never coming back, and I would strongly recommend others to stay away.

This was one of the worst dining experiences we had in Italy. After placing our order, we waited over 35 minutes for the food. When it finally arrived, it was not what we ordered — we specifically asked for fried calamari and were instead served a mixed fried seafood platter. When we raised the issue, the waiter rudely said, “That’s what we have,” without offering any apology. The seafood was not fresh, the food quality was below average, and to top it all off, the prices were unreasonably high for what we received. Very disappointing. Poor service, bad food, and overpriced — definitely not worth it.

Conclusion, à fuir.
