Gelateria Solferino — Restaurant in Milan

One, if not the best, gelato/ice cream in Milano, and maybe in the world. This is not an exaggeration. We are from Argentina, where ice cream is amazing (lots of people do not know this, if you're one of them, next time you are in Argentina explore), and spend some years in the US where there are also great ice cream shops (Penns State creamery, US presidents have pictures taken enjoying the ice cream there), and gelato at Solferino is almost off the charts. Flavors are well crafted, sweetenes is balance and textures is what it should be. The sabayon is truly amazing, and that is one of the most difficult flavors to get right. The elderly couple that was serving the ice cream made recommendations, let us tried flavors before deciding, and despite us not speaking Italian and they not speaking English, helped us to understand and make an inform decision. My favorite gelato i’ve ever had. I go every other day. Rita and her husband are like family and very welcoming and caring people. The gelato is made fresh and always tastes AMAZING. Siamo passati ieri pomeriggio in quattro alla Gelateria Solferino, in via Solferino a Milano, e siamo rimasti tutti davvero colpiti. Ad accoglierci c’era la signora Rita (credo la proprietaria), gentilissima e cordiale fin da subito. Uno dei miei amici aveva avuto anni fa una gelateria, così abbiamo iniziato a chiacchierare con lei, che ci ha raccontato con passione come producono tutto artigianalmente.

Io ho preso una coppetta con pistacchio, fondente e sharry: semplicemente perfetta. I sapori si distinguono benissimo, sono bilanciati e intensi senza mai essere stucchevoli. La consistenza del gelato, nonostante il caldo, era impeccabile. Non troppo freddo, non troppo liquido. Insomma, centrato in pieno.

Rita poi ci ha fatto assaggiare anche altri gusti, senza che glielo chiedessimo. Un gesto spontaneo e davvero apprezzato (anche se pericoloso per chi ama il gelato come me, perché ogni gusto era una tentazione).

In tutta sincerità, è uno dei gelati migliori che abbia mai mangiato. Forse il migliore in Lombardia.
