Our culinary adventure at Mu Dimsum in Milan was an enchanting experience that took us on a journey through the vibrant essence of Asian cuisine. The tasting menu, priced at a reasonable €60, was an elaborate spread that showcased the restaurant's flair for creating dishes that were both traditional and innovative.

The evening began with the "Involtini Primavera," a delightful spring roll filled with mackerel, shrimp, and soy noodles, which set a high standard for what was to come. Following this was the "Dim Sum Combo," a spectacular assortment of five dumplings, each with a distinct flavor and perfectly steamed texture that simply melted in the mouth. The mezzaluna with mushrooms and a hint of truffle was an outstanding dish.

The "Tagliatelle di Manzo" was a fusion masterpiece, homemade rice tagliatelle with beef, soy sprouts, and Chinese garlic leaves, offering a beautiful balance of flavors and textures. The "Char Siu Bao" – grilled bio organic pork buns – was another highlight, with its tender pork filling encased in a light, fluffy bun, a true homage to its Guangdong origins. We loved the delicate taste and the balance between the pork and the caramelised onions.

The "Peking Duck" was a showstopper, served traditionally with thin crepes, a sweet sauce, and crispy vegetables that created a harmonious blend of flavors with each bite. The skin was crisp and and the meat was extremely tender almost melting in your mouth.

An unexpected yet thoroughly delightful aspect of the meal was the tea pairing. Each tea was thoughtfully selected to complement the dishes, enhancing the flavors and providing a refreshing counterpoint to the rich and savory notes of the food. The tea pairing, available for €30, was an outstanding experience that elevated the tasting menu to new heights. The tea is prepared table side with detailed explanation. A highlight was the Jasmin flavoured green tea for the dessert which was prepared cold table side.

Dessert was a sweet finale with "Mochi al Mango" and an assortment of "Piccola Pasticceria," which provided a light yet satisfying end to the meal. The mango jelly and matcha glutinous rice film were particularly memorable, with subtle sweetness and a soft, chewy texture.

The service throughout the meal was impeccable. The staff were not only knowledgeable about the dishes and the teas but also attentive and enthusiastic, contributing to an overall dining experience that was as smooth and delightful as the teas themselves.

Mu Dimsum provided an exceptional dining experience that I would recommend to anyone in Milan seeking a taste of Asia with a modern twist. The combination of delicious food, excellent service, and the unique tea pairing makes it a must-visit destination for food...

This place has an amazing venue, and very good customer service + good speed on bringing the dishes.

Where it falls apart is the prices (excessive and very small portions!) and the flavours themselves.

The food is technically very well made, but fundamentally misses the strength and depth of flavour that a good, classy chinese place should have.

Every dish is delicate, every dish is light, every dish is quite small, and none of the dishes really give you a sufficient burst of flavour of experience to warrant the price.

A chinese place that caters to fancy (white) milanese people, the chef seems too scared of their sensitive palates to use any spicy flavours, too scared to properly up the chinese flavours, no spicy oil, very limited soya, no vinegar sauce at all, just completely whitewashed/italianized chinese food.

Dishes were:

Mixed vegetables 10€ had a wonderful sauce in theory, but it was so meek, so little of it, barely could taste it

The BBQ Lobster - 30€ delicate but completely lacking the oomf of ginger it promises on the menu, and the lobster was pathetically small, the size of a couple scampi - really a bit disappointed by how uncreative this dish was and such a small portion.

Ginger spiced Tripe - this was really really good, just could have had a bit more umami and had no spicy, perfect otherwise.

Dim Sum - 22€ for 7 pieces... excessive and they didn't even taste so amazing.

Second Dim Sum (?€) soupy dim sums with pipette were good, can recommend these.

Veggie Fried rice - 10€ Small portion, perfectly firm rice, nice veggie and egg, but completely bland and totally missed the point of chinese fried rice!

Animelle - Delicious and can recommend, amazing mushroom sauce with them, a highlight although the deep fried animelle was a little drier than ideal (could have been chicken lol)

Overall a whitewashed expensive chinese place that needs to pull its weight, serve more impactful food, and live up to the...

I went there because it was near my hotel, plus the google reviews were good. Hind sight, my expectation was too high. I should have gone to a less “upscale” but more traditional Chinese dim sum place instead.

It is NOT authentic especially the way they prepare your tea. They use tepid warm water versus the Chinese use very hot, nearly boiling water to make tea. The tea is tasteless despite they show a very impressive and very expensive tea menu. It is the perfect example of Form over Function.

The dim sum is just OK. The content of the dumplings are fresh and not overly seasoned. However the wrapper i.e. the “skin” of the dumpling is way too thick. They obviously don’t have the knowledge about truely good dumpling should have thin wrapper that is so thin to make the wrapper almost transparent, that you can see the content inside. Theirs is a failure in this regard.

The steamed “Cha Siu” wide rice noodle wrap is a joke because the “Cha Siu” definitely is NOT the authentic Cantonese bbq style pork. It is more like chopped small pork pieces that were cooked with soy sauce.

It is a fusion cuisine. That is fine as long as they stop being pretentious that they serve authentic Chinese dim sum dishes, because they do not.

It may be good enough for those who have very little knowledge on Chinese Dim Sum. But if you know how Chinese especially Cantonese Dim Sum dishes should be, don’t go there or don’t have high expectation if you go the first time.

That said, the lady who seemingly is the highest ranked staff at that place, really know what customer service recovery should be. For that, she...

Me and a friend were in there yesterday lunch and I can’t even say the food taste good, in fact everything does look pretty but that’s it. Food is just okay, nothing in particular special, but the restaurant is positioned in a high-end restaurant, it does not meet the standard. I mean it’s Milan you could find a way better average restaurant (food quality, price… etc.) in downtown. The antipasti are most likely the best one in the all grub we had and this is not even on our order list. The price is ridiculous expensive compared what did they actually serve and food quality. Totally not recommend. We had a typical “dim sum” (Shumai, Dumpling, Shrimp dumpling, Barbeque pork bun, Roastpi, Tempeh pork ribs and a mushroom veg rice bowl) Especially the rice bowl is terribly bad as Asian cuisine they cooked the rice like “Risotto” and cording to the menu supposed to be the rice with the mushroom, but only two pieces of wood ear fungus that’s all, taste is just blank only sesame oil that’s it. We have talked to the service about the rice and naught response just a kinky “oh really” react and the whole time no one even comes to ask how was the food which is very unprofessional and I’m feeling this is not very standard for this kind of the fancy restaurant. Even though my friend is very generous tips them ten euro (which is 10% of our order's price) and no thank you nothing. Feeling the money trolling to the water and nothing gained from the experience. It’s first time and the last time we had visited.
