If it was possible to put no stars, I would do it. I have never been so disappointed in a restaurant in Milan. They put us on a table next to the kitchen, I came home smelling like kitchen. Where do I start? I asked the waiter if the oysters were fresh (3.5 euros/cad) in a high level fish restaurant it is 4 euros/cad-6 eur the norma price. He tells me they are very fresh and assured me of it. They tasted fine, but definitely not fresh and some of them were . Then I ordered a salmon tartare . I eat tartare (mostly salmon ) very often and I can tell you that you can eat a salmon tartare better in an all you can eat sushi place or Temakinho. And definitely spend less . Terrible. I thought it was me but I made also the other people at the table try it so I made sure I wasn’t hallucinating. I couldn’t eat it so I asked the waiter to take it and then he told me I could order whatever I wanted. (Even though in the end they made us pay for everything that they served even though we complained). Fish was definitely not fresh. My question is. Why do you offer crudités/ raw fish if you’re not good at it?And what kind of owner/host comes to argue with the client about whether they like a meal or not and be arrogant . I was told that maybe it is because my taste is different . A tartare is made to taste the fish , the fish I tasted was everything but fresh and I can assure you that the problem is not my taste because tartare is one of my most favourite food and I have grown up with tartare and fish and this is probably in the top worst I’ve ever eaten and I cannot think of other worse. The only sweet and kind person that actually seemed to be interested in what our opinion was or what we thought was the waiter who was a nice, sweet and young guy who felt sorry about it all and was the only one who apologised. After we paid we were offered a dessert which was very mediocre and weleft the restaurant as if they were chasing us from the restaurant. If it wasn’t for the fact that I had guests in Milan, family members who adore Milan and had to see and taste this terrible (the least to say) experience, and the arrogance and disrespect of the staff, I would probably not waste time on writing this review. I lived in Brera for a few years and never entered this restaurant and seems like my intuition was not lying. Please, because it is definitely not cheap, especially for the food they serve (tartare circa 25 eur) do yourself a favour and go to...
Read moreThis restaurant is a quintessential analogy for Milan. Impossibly pretentious at first sight; then, past the drab elegance, surprising in its adequacy, sometimes meeting perhaps even exceeding its unspoken promise; ultimately unnecessarily expensive. Don't get me wrong, it's difficult to find a more central location in Milan. The restaurant looks great. The service was impeccable (Convivium should thank Loris as he alone counts for a full star and then some) and it actually serves good food. Now... is it exceptional? It's far from great so I don't think so. Should you go? I have spent more money in worse places. All in all it was a satisfying evening that would've been absolutely delightful if it had come at a lower price. Let's chalk it up to Milan tax. Anyway, below my ratings and breakdown of the menu I tried:
Fiori di zucca ripieni - 3-4 out of 5 stars. Myself and the significant other disagree here. I thought mozzarella and potato filling was too plain. She loved it. It was ok. On the cheaper side of starters at €14 👀. Orata with porcini and potatoes - 3-4.5 out of 5 stars. Same as above. This was her dish and she loved it. I found it too heavy and saucy. We both agreed for such a "posh" wannabe place it was plated exceedingly poorly. Ricciola with fiori and bottarga - 4.5 out of 5 This could easily be a highlight of the week kind of dish. Fish was astoundingly well cooked, lightly but evenly seasoned, the zucchini flowers added a delicate layer of texture. One comment on "Bottarga". It has a unique, very pungent flavor. You either love it or hate it and there is no shame if it's the latter. I found out today I hate it. Yes, that's how good the fish was. Tiramisu - 3 out of 5. You'll eat it, you'll like it, you won't remember it. Limoncello - 2.5 out of 5. Good but excessively sugary. First flavor to hit is water. There's better. Bread basket - 4 out of 5. The focaccia is a 6/5 but the actual bread basket had some stale...
Read moreI went to this restaurant for a business dinner with important guests during last milan Design Week. We arrived at 7 pm and had our meal, which was not bad. At the end of the dinner, I realized that my purse was missing. The purse I had placed under my chair (which I never stood up during the dinner) was gone. And once I told the restaurant manager about my missing bag, they didn’t seem to care or empathize of the situation and they didn’t offer to call the police (which is later I was advised by police officer to do in this case) they simply told me to go to the police station and make a report. The restaurant was in chaos, with many people standing at the entrance and all around tables possibly due to the heavy rain. It took time to bring our car back from the parking lot due to the rain, but the staff was very impolite and told us to leave quickly so they could seat other guests. We left before 9pm so we certainly didn’t stay too long. I understand that it was a busy time during the design week, they were very insensitive about the theft of my bag and only used being busy as an excuse. I was stolen of my valuable belongings (bag, cellphone, wallet, airpods and other belongings) while I was eating inside the restaurant. Meanwhile, the staff rudely urged us to leave. Having my bag stolen was truly a terrible experience but unfortunately it can happen. However, I can‘t forget the rude and unpleasant attitude we received from the...
