I have to say that my experience at Via Pasteria was a bit disappointing. I was really looking forward to going to this place as I had been checking out their Instagram posts for a while now and was really curious to try their food. However, I felt that the service could have been better. I always forgot to comment on my experience, so this review is based on my visit to Milan in May. So, I chose the restaurant to meet my friends who had come all the way from Switzerland to see me and spend a few hours with me. Based on the pictures, the reviews and everyone who posted their food on their stories, I really thought it would be the perfect place for us. We ordered our food and even after we finished our meal, we kept ordering spritz to enjoy the nice weather since we were sitting outside. However, one of the front desk staff, who was taking orders behind the cash register, I assume to be the manager by the way he was dressed, unlike the waitress, and by his arrogant attitude, came to our table and complained about smoking, saying that it was not allowed, making the moment extremely awkward for us. I think it was very rude and unnecessary of him to dismiss us and make us leave the table, especially since the two waitresses who served us, and everyone else who was sitting outside, never mentioned anything about smoking. In any case, I did not like the service, neither from him nor from another guy, a bold man with a short beard, who brought our food in a very unfriendly manner, without even smiling or making us feel welcome.
Well, you can correct me about their smoking policy. I did not see any sign about smoking outside, and since the other waitress did not mention anything, we assumed it was okay. I just felt annoyed and uncomfortable with the way we were treated.
I have to say the same about the two waitresses who were outside: they are extremely nice and friendly, very professional, the Italian, and the Asian. One of them even brought me a knife to help me cut my bruschetta.
I will give 5 stars for the food, especially for the ragù bolognese bruschetta, so far one of the best I have tried during my stay in Milan. And their pasta is really authentic and fresh, and the combination of ingredients is very original; they really know what...
Read moreI recently visited Milano and just walked by this restaurant. I was hungry so decided to try this place. It’s called Via Pasteria, and I can confidently say it was an exceptional experience. The ambiance was warm and inviting, with charming touches that made the meal feel special from start to finish.
Amazing staff super friendly and professional. Especially Kristina.
Spaghetti with Anchovies and Breadcrumbs: The spaghetti was perfectly al dente, topped with a delicate balance of anchovies and crispy breadcrumbs. The flavors were bold yet refined, with just the right amount of saltiness from the anchovies complementing the light crunch of the breadcrumbs. It was a simple dish executed with mastery, capturing the essence of Italian coastal cuisine.
Burrata with Cherry Tomatoes: The burrata was as fresh as it gets—silky, creamy, and bursting with flavor. Paired with perfectly ripe cherry tomatoes and a hint of basil, it was a beautifully balanced appetizer that set the tone for the rest of the meal. The touch of seasoning elevated each bite, making it both refreshing and indulgent.
Pesto Toast with Pine Nuts and Sun-Dried Tomatoes: Served on a slate plate, this artistic presentation was matched by its taste. The pesto was vibrant and herbaceous, generously spread over toasted bread that had the ideal crunch. The addition of pine nuts and sun-dried tomatoes added texture and a burst of umami, making this dish as visually stunning as it was delicious.
Tiramisu: I had the pleasure of trying the tiramisu, It was so good. The layers of coffee-soaked sponge and velvety mascarpone were perfect—rich yet light, with a dusting of cocoa that brought everything together beautifully. It was the perfect end to an exquisite meal.
Overall, Via Pasteria delivers an authentic Italian experience that left me craving more. Every dish was prepared with attention to detail and genuine Italian passion. If you’re in search of a place that embodies the heart of Italian cooking, look no further. I can’t wait to return!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ — Highly...
Read moreWe came to Via Pasteria and honestly had such a great experience both times we visited. The food was amazing and came out really fast, but what stood out the most was the service. Everyone here is so warm and friendly, it just feels good to be around them.
Our server last night was super nice. She was always smiling at everyone, not just us but other tables too, and you could tell she genuinely cared about people having a good time. She kept checking in at the right moments and made sure the pacing of the meal felt comfortable. Even when there was a short wait, she made it feel easy. She told people they could wait inside by the counter if they were tired of standing, which I thought was really thoughtful. The wait was only about twenty to thirty minutes anyway, but she handled it like a pro.
The hostess was incredible too. I’m not sure if she’s a manager, but she definitely runs the show in the best way. She was doing everything — helping clean tables, moving furniture around to make space, handing out silverware, and even explaining to guests where to get water. She had this great energy, just super on top of everything, and you could tell she cared about keeping things smooth for both the guests and the staff. She’s actually the reason we decided to come back the next day.
We also had a baby with us, and she noticed right away and offered to help lift the stroller up the stairs without us even asking. That kind of attention really says a lot about the kind of people who work here.
Overall the food was great, the people were amazing, and the atmosphere just made it feel like the kind of place you want to...
