Al Maré — Restaurant in Monopoli

⚠️⚠️ UPDATE: Food poisoning, stay away!!! ⚠️⚠️

All of us that had fish were affected since the fish was not cleaned and was not cooked properly.🤮 All other tables next to us were complaining, it's obvious that the other recent 5 star reviews are fake!

Once you go to the restaurant you will immediately notice the very rude and arrogant staff. While we were there some people came for pizza (which was on the menu) and he told them arrogantly no pizza. As they were leaving he was offending them and swearing in italian. 🤷

We waited for almost 2hrs for the food to arrive, we kept asking all the time when the food would arrive (they always told us: 5mins) and whoever had fish had food poisoning. Do yourself a favour and DO...

Did not love it. We ordered the Carbonara pasta and the grilled octopus. The pasta was overly salty and was definitely not great. The octopus was mostly fine, although it did seem as if it could have been seasoned and cleaned better. Though it did taste fine, my stomach is definitely not feeling good. 1/10 for the food. Right next to our table there was a very funny looking (and sounding!) speaker that was changing colours and it kept on disconnecting from whatever phone it was connected to. Absolutely terrible. The service was mostly alright but the whole experience was just awful. Not worth...

We spent a week in Monopoli and visited Al Mare lots of times for coffee, breakfast, lunch and dinner over that time. I enjoyed everything I had; seafood, pastas, coffee, fruit platters. It's less expensive than most comparable establishments in the area. Really friendly staff who all seem to get on well, making for an hospitable atmosphere. Spotless. Bright. Laid back. It's just a minute away from the restaurants that are clustered inside the old city. Al Mare looks out over the port, the fishing boats. Frequented by workers and families especially...
