I don’t normally give reviews but how could I leave Monopoli without reviewing Brigante. I was lucky to book a table for my first day and what you notice right away is that the restaurant has a family/local vibe. They got me a table outside and it’s very cosy located. Food was incredible. I tried the restaurants suggested starters and then a incredible pasta to finish off. Everything was of highest quality. Even the bread was fresh and very tasty. Service was excellent. They helped me with taxi home. Tip is to try their home made Licorice liqour. As a reference: I also went to Il Guazetto that was such a big disappointment in comparision that I booked dinner here for tonight as well. I highly recommend Il Brigante. Grazie for an Amazing experience:

Without a booking for Friday dinner in Monopoli in August, we didn’t have much hope when we asked the owner of the restaurant if we could get a table. He was very kind and gave us a table for an hour, though the restaurant was fully booked. What a delight! Started with very fresh raw red shrimps and fish sashimi, we had three main courses: langoustine risotto with baby squids, grilled mixed seafood (octopus, sword fish and prawns), and calamari with pesto. All were amazingly delicious with very authentic flavours. The service was also attentive and didn’t make us feel rushed. We were also given melon between starters and main courses. All in all it was a great dining experience in an authentic seafood restaurant.

So... we read some mixed reviews about Brigante but decided to make a reservation anyway. I've rated the food 1 but we never are here and this is because the following: We made a reservation for 6 people at 7.30pm. My family and I were walking around Monopoli but suddenly I felt very queasy. I'm pregnant and sometimes I get this. So we decided to already walk to the restaurant because it was very busy in town and asked if we could already have a seat. We specified we didn't want to bother them and that we understand that we were 40min early but that we would not be a nuisance. The waitress was hesitating and thus she asked another (I think maybe the boss) waiter and he didn't even look at us. He just started shouting some things in Italian, shouting "no no no" and making wave gestures with his hand to "shoo" us away. Needless to say we will never step foot in this place ever again. Best seafood? I don't think so. Ciao Bellas! Btw the street might look cosy from one angle but it doesn't from another angle ;)

We expected more after reading reviews and checking menu prices. Waiting time was way quite long (about 40 min, and we were not warned about it).The food was good, but we had better in Puglia for that price. What I really didn’t like that octopus was like rubber, we have barely eaten it. Meanwhile, waiter never came over to ask us if everything ok (for 3 euro coperto I expect waiter to be more friendly and helpful). From the beginning we felt not welcomed there so we will never come back.

We had a wonderful dinner here and they were kind enough to sneak us in without a reservation. I'd recommend booking in peak season and asking for a table outside. Lovely friendly service. Great vibe. Both the shrimp and tuna tartare were lovely starters. We just had primi as our main course and it was plenty of food!! Would recommend both the spaghettone with prawns and the frutti di mare. Both delicious!! Our bottle of malvasia was a treat too!

Really cute and nice place to have dinner - we could go inside without booking and without waiting (having a table outside would have changed this), but the inside environment was super nice. The place is quite big/tall - so it feels relaxing The food was super tasty and nice, and the service quite friendly I would recommend it
