I made a reservation for the next day, and when we showed up at the appointed time, they put us in a sub-hall of the restaurant that did not have air conditioning, and at the last table right next to the bathroom corridor, noting that there were no customers in the restaurant except us at that time. I informed the waiter that we wanted another table. because we had a prior reservation and there were no customers yet, but he nodded that it was not possible, so I decided to leave because there was no air conditioning, and this is the main problem. When we left, the owner of the restaurant asked him what was the problem? The waiter explained to him the reason, and the owner of the restaurant pointed with his hands towards the door (meaning, let them go without feeling sorry for them) with a racist and impolite facial expression towards tourists, and it is shameful for it to come from an old man, although I believe that he does not represent the beautiful Italian people, because this is my fourth visit, but at the same time I know that older men may be less open to other people in many countries. In general, I hope that the owner of the restaurant will be a good role model and give a beautiful image of his country, if there is some love for Italy in...
Read moreThis place offers some of the best examples of classic Neapolitan food. We had so many dishes and it was all so good I was only able to get a few photos of the desert at the end; which was also pretty amazing. For starters we were brought their signature peach bellini's made with fresh pureed peaches which I can only decribe as nectar of the gods. For antipasti we tried the stuffed fried zucchini flowers and of course their signature mozzarella, both were exquisite.
One of the best dishes we had for our main course was the La Genovese. A pasta dish with a rich complex sauce made of beef and caramelized onions simmered for hours. Another memorable dish was the Zuppa di spolichini with seasonal cannelline beans and very tender octopus rings, which added subtle flavor. For dessert we tried the plate of mixed sorbets encased in the skin or showers from the fruit or nuts they are made from. This has to be one of the my favourite desserts
Besides the delicious food the service and attention we received was superb. They treat you like family. Highly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for true Neapolitan...
Read moreThis is a typical Neapolitan restaurant, and it’s plenty of Neapolitan customers, which means you can find here the real, and well done, traditional recipes. You can find on the walls a lot of pictures telling the long story of the restaurant, which was started about 100 years ago and is now at the third generation managed by the same family. There is attention during the service. Appetizers with buffalo mozzarella, eggplant parmigiana and fried zucchini flowers, then special soups with beans and seafood or chickpeas and chestnuts, then pasta alla genovese or puttanesca with amberjack and capers. To finish babà with rum and caprese chocolate cake. All served on timely manner for a table of 10 people. The...
