2 days later and I'm still dreaming of that Cuzzetiello sandwich! From the taste of it, all the Ragu used in each of the dishes were also different. And different in a good way! I got the Cuzzetiello filled with meatballs with ragù. I'm not really a fan of tomato sauce (even tomato sauce pasta), so the fact that I liked this is HUGE! Absolutely beautiful flavor, fresh bread, Large meatballs and the perfect amount of Ragu in there. FRESH SCIALATIELLI WITH RAGU AND RICOTTA - Ragu had a slightly tangy taste to it. Dad found it a bit too sour so we ended up packing half of it and taking it for breakfast for the next day. I still found it really nice though. Pasta was cooked well and not too al dente. FRESH GNOCCHI WITH RAGU AND PROVOLA - Husband and brother both ordered this one. Gnocchi was fresh and soft and quite a big plateful of it. The raghu had a slightly sweet taste to it compared to the others. RAVIOLI WITH RAGU FILLED WITH RICOTTA AND SPINACH - Quite large pieces of ravioli here with a good amount of filling as well. There was a lot of Ragu on the plate here compared to the amount of the actual pasta and the Ragu was fairly oily. :( Otherwise a good dish.

This place is recommended by bizarre foods: delicious destinations, so we had to try it. Ragu is one of Napoli's best dishes and mostly ignored compared to pizza and seafood. But in our humble opinion it is one of the best Neapolitan dishes we should talk about. This place paid homage to this simple yet full of flavors dish; everything in the menu is around the ragu. We ordered most of their dishes and all were excellent 👌. For the drink we had large lemonade 5/5: with sparkling water and the perfect amount of sweetness. Ragu with pasta 5/5: the meat is tender and the ragu is perfectly seasoned. Ragu with ricotta cheese 5/5: it added creaminess to the sauce. Caprese salad 4/5: freash but missing the seasoning. Gnocchi with genovese ragu 5/5: for those who dont like cooked tomato as myself, it is basically caramelized onions with tender meat, lovely. Ragu stuffed mozzarella 4/5: we like the idea but felt like missing something. Beef steak 4/5: simple and juicy. Overall, we totally recommend visiting this restaurant, not the takeout restaurant in spaccanapoli, the food here worh the visit and it is remarkable and unique to Napoli.

So we were fooled by the relative high rate here, but we were left disappointed! First and foremost, the service was awful!! The staff is so slow! We had to wait for them 10min to clean a table, then 25min for someone to take our order!? Like seriously? We had to ask the waiter 3 times and he always said 1s!?!? Table service includes bread and cheese and it’s 2,5euro. The bread you can see on the photo.. they totally forgot it and no one gave us cheese!!! I don’t know but they don’t deserve this 2.5euros - one of the worst and slowest service ever! We ordered a coke and lemonade. The coke came after 10min and lemonade in 20min?? Such service is a shame! Food was ok! The lasagne was mediocre compared to other places in Italy but relatively more expensive. I wouldn’t recommend this place. Try something else where you don’t have to wait so much and where food would not be mediocre for that money! Apart from that, there are bins literally 1 meters away from the tables and while we were eating there were two people on the next table who were smoking weed.

Excellent ragu (deserves more than 5 stars) and very friendly staff. The staff went above and beyond in their service, and did their best to accommodate a non-italian speaker. This combined with very delicious food made the experience very memorable. P.S. the ricotta on the side was per my request to try the ragu with and without it. The next day I went back for dinner and had their genovese. It was simply superb!! I am already planning to dine there again while I am still in Napoli. On my 3rd visit in less than a week to this restaurant, I had the eggplant parmigiana with Ragu. For those who want to enjoy the ragu without any pasta, this is the dish to get. On my 4th visit I had the bruschette and the genovese (again) but this time with a different type of pasta. The mere fact that I have been at this place 4 times in 8 days is a testimony to the great food, and more importantly to the wonderful people who are managing the restaurant. Grazie mille!!!

I have eaten quite a few meals in my half century but this is one of the very best. And without a doubt, the ragú is the best ragú I have ever had. Tandem was a recommendation from my food tour guide and it's on point. Located in the old town part of Napoli, it's a half block off the main streets with the tourists. That makes it close but not too close. Inside, a small seating area with a half-dozen tables. Friendly host to show us to our table and explain the different pasta shapes. Stuffed mozzarella to start. No, not something stuffed with mozzarella. This was an actual ball of fresh mozzarella stuffed with sauce. For main, I had the ragú with fusilli pasta. Literally, the best ragú I have ever had. Ever other meal I have the rest of my time in Napoli will be judged against this and it will fall short. Don't miss Tandem.
