We had a bad experience at this restaurant, which really surprised us given the good reviews.
We arrived without a reservation as a group of four and were told to come back in 20 minutes, at which point they’d have a table ready for us. We agreed and took a walk along the lungomare. When we returned, we still had to wait another 25 minutes at the door.
Once seated, we were rushed into ordering. We started with a plate of frittura di calamari e gamberi, which was excellent, though quite small for the price. Then we each ordered a pasta dish — which never arrived.
Over the next 50 minutes, we asked multiple times about our food. At first, we were polite and understanding, but as time passed, we grew increasingly frustrated. At one point, the waiter even asked, “Why are you so nervous?” and continued to give vague excuses about issues in the kitchen — even though we saw other tables being served without problems.
We were hungry and had been waiting for over an hour. The waiter’s attempt to compensate with a round of free limoncello shots at the end of the meal didn’t help — not cool.
Eventually, we decided to leave without eating our pasta. At that point, they brought us a bill for €35, charging us for four coperti, the small plate of fried seafood, and three bottles of water — which we only drank to pass the time while waiting.
That felt like a joke, considering we left hungry and frustrated by the poor service. After confronting him, the owner eventually decided to waive the entire bill — which would have felt professional, had he not first tried to charge us for such a disappointing experience.
Never again.
TL;DR: We waited over an hour, our main courses never came, and they still tried to charge us €35 for a small starter, water, and...
Read moreWe reserved the restaurant for the earliest available time, 7:30 PM because we needed to be somewhere afterwards. We were in the area an hour earlier and decided to check where we will need to go later not to waste any time because we were on a tight schedule. When we stopped by, the waiter was seating and smoking outside and he said very rudely and abruptly that they are still closed, we said, no problem our reservation is for later, we are just checking out. When we came at 7:30, there were many waiters, but all of them acted like they are not interested in us or other customers coming in, they acted like it is a true touristic trap and all they care is to bring your food quickly and continue watching football on TVs. But the worst part was the food. everything from the beginning to the end did not have any taste, was either under or overcooked and just tasted like you are eating salt and pepper out of salt and pepper containers. I love to cook myself and I don't like when the food doesn't have a taste, I put plenty of salt, pepper, herbs and spices in my food, but I never in my entire life ate something so terribly oversalted. We decided not to get a dessert in this restaurant, simply because we left half of our food what we ordered even though we were extremely hungry. We had a 2 week vacation in the Southern Italy and every single food experience before this restaurant was amazing, it is a pity because this was our last dinner before going back home and we really wanted to have it special, especially everyone has high expectations of Napoli food I have no idea how come there are so many excellent reviews for this...
Read moreSurprisingly disappointing. A lot of little fails and shortcomings on the service, where one on its own would not have been a big deal, but they were accumulating and made it a disappointing experience. Taste was the only good thing there.
We went quite early on a Saturday evening (around 8pm) with out reservation. There were plenty of free tables, only three were taken. They immediately ushered us into the room in the back. We were the only ones sitting there and were offered a table in the corner with “view” on the staircase down to the toilet. It was weird but we accepted for now.
We were asked we menu and handed English ones. Before my husband had even opened it, a pushy and unfriendly waiter started to talk to him in Italian. He was selling the most expensive starter without even asking about preferences or giving us a chance to even open the menu. This was way too much of selling and really in a rude tone, not friendly or recommending. We friendly asked for time to see the menu.
Thanks to the placement next to the toilet staircase and the pushy service we had already lost the belief in being there for a nice dinner and ordered a simple food and some water.
The bruschetta we got was very tasty. Immediately after we finished, all plates including the one of the bread were taken.
For the main courses they brought my husbands fish and my pasta came only 3 minutes later. Really? Not even serving the main dishes at the same time?
In the end we had to ask for the bill three...
