An amazing experience! This was the best pizza & service that we encountered in all of Italy. The high quality taste of the ingredients, and the fresh & airy crust way surpassed my expectations. If you don't believe me, then you must search for Vincenzo Capuano's intoxicating videos. It's the real deal!! He makes the art of pizza making look so effortless. A true pizza professional!
On the advice of our local tour guide, we started with the Potato Croquette appetizer. The filling is a delicious smoked provola cheese from the mountains. I wish I had taken a picture of it, but the camera didn't eat first. The order comes with 2 large croquettes for sharing. Absolutely delicious!
After that, we ordered our pizzas. I selected the Pizza Frittta Completa, and he went with the Come Una Capricciosa. We figured it would be a small portion based on the price. We were wrong. Especially the stuffed and fried pizza. I could have easily shared that one. I've never had anything like it. The filling was an explosion of different flavors. The fried dough was light as air. It's so unique! My husband's pizza was just as fantastic. I didn't get to try it, but he kept commenting on the light crust & freshness of the hand crushed tomatoes and provola cheese. He consumed all of it. Honestly, everything was delicious! This place has changed my view of Neapolitan pizza. I've never been a fan of soggy middles, but this was different.
The service was actually very good here. We were able to somehow communicate between our very broken Italian, and their better than average English. The menus are in Italian but you can pull up the english version using the QR code at the table.
There are desserts, but we didn't get to try them. There is indoor and covered outdoor seating. This place was packed with local clientele after 1pm. It's very popular. Don't skip it when near Piazza del Plebiscito. I'm still craving that delicious...
Read moreCool location by the waterfront. Managed to avoid waiting in a line like we observed at their Roma location.
Still it was a tight and cozy seating for the five of us but we ordered a Margherita con bufola and as well as one of their special pizzas featuring some delicious smokey meatball with some combination of cream and cheeses that was quite delicious.
These were the best pizze of our short trip, from both a visual and gustatory perspective.
Perfect puffy crusts-- soft inside, leopard spotted caramelization leaving a crisp veneer outside, surrounding an almost impossibly thin platform for the complex layers of flavor contained within.
Service was quick and snappy, in a good way for me. There were plenty of staff around so they looked like they could handle some business.
A bonus is the pair of oversized pizza scissors, which make sharing pizza a snip rather than a debacle.
More traditional places seem to expect their customers to each eat their own pizza, so it's not usually sliced,...
Read moreMy friend and I ate at this restaurant and tried both the Margherita and Neapolitan pizzas, but neither of them made us happy. The first issue was the dough: I'm not sure if they use a pre-fermented starter or not, but the pizza was chewy. Additionally, the crust had much less air than expected and was not crunchy at all. It felt like a piece of wet, underbaked dough was going into your stomach. Also, the service was pretty bad. It was really busy, and the waiters seemed overwhelmed, plus the weather was warm. However, at the very least, they shouldn't throw the menu on the table. I wanted to ask a few things, but to be honest, I was scared to ask
As a person who is interested in pizza and works in the same area, I think it's a bit of a shame that Vinz's quality doesn't match his standards. Maybe we overrated him based on social media, but even outside of Italy or Naples, you can find much better pizzas. It was definitely below the...
