To all tourists: This is NOT the real granite. It doesn’t even come close to what a real Sicilian Granita is. This one I had was over-prices (12€ for 2 Granita and 2 Brioche “to go”). 1) Obviously it’s one of our most delicious local all-over-the-day desert made out of frozen WATER and precious local ingredients. BUT, HOWEVER IT’S MAINLY WATER!!! And selling it to this incredible high price doesn’t reflect, in my opportunity, the island’s traditional hospitality which wants everyone, reach and poors, to be able to enjoy natural ingredients of the earth. 2) I might have been overlooking the price it this Granita would be delicious as my sicilian taste is used to when I am travelling the east cost of Sicily hunting for the best granita. (Actually granita is native from Messina. It’s majesty La Granita Messinese. But it can be found very well done also along the east cost from Taormina, Catania, to Noto ‘till Syracusa, beside in this spot) However the granita was extremely full of sugar and the % part of the natural ingredients is clearly reduced. 3) the brioche…. The brioche in Sicily is NOT a beside dish!!! The brioch MUST be as perfect and balanced as the granita itself. Soften baked. Intensive smelling. Mine was chewy and hard like those you ger from the day before. Oh but proudly I got them warmed up in the microwave. Juhuu! Seriously?? I mean I have to ask this local-wise: “Ma dite sul serio? And… 4) all this was just “to go”, can you imagine “to stay” All over experience: I suggest plenty of places,...
Read moreShockingly high prices and rude staff mean that this ice-cream kiosk on the main drag through Noto is best avoided. We ordered our ice creams which we took to our table ourselves but were charged a whopping 20% service charge to sit at a dirty table and be abused by a rude and incompetent waiter. We live in Noto and regularly eat in the town but will never return to this tourist trap again. We also ordered an Amaro which cost 7 euros 20 including service (we normally pay between 2,50 and 4 euros). Our advice is take a few extra steps (and your wallet) along the high street where you will be welcomed by friendly staff who genuinely welcome your business and are not simply intent on fleecing...
Read morevery bad staff, after we ordered ice creams they charged us another euro per person for the session and after we ate the ice cream we decided to have a coffee and they charged us another 30 cents per session for the coffee but we already had paid for the session a short time ago, so we asked for a refund for the coffee, which they didn't want to give us at first, and after arguing for a while, they rudely threw the money on the ground. I highly do not recommend. there is a stone gelateria on the corner with significantly better and cheaper ice creams named...
