This little restaurant tucked behind the Ducezio that runs parallel to the main Corso in Noto will impress even the most discerning of diners. This beautifully restored traditional stone building has a modern welcoming feel to it with both indoor and outdoor dining. It is self evident that the family who own and run the restaurant are extremely passionate about food, using only locally sourced ingredients, fresh locally caught fish, wines from local vineyards etc. The food was well presented and all home made. My daughter has dined in Retablo several times, albeit this was a first for me. We shared the cous cous on sticks with a celery dip which were incredible and unique. The celery pureed dip was amazing. I had the tartar of tuna pasta for my main course that had a fusion of flavours with plenty of fresh tuna through the pasta in a tomato bisque sauce. I can't begin to describe how delicious it was, I will definitely order this again next time. My daughter had the veal cheek in a red wine sauce, on a bed of pureed potatoes which was to die for 😋. We shared an amazing dessert of a chocolate torta with home made pistachio ice cream that needs to be tasted as any description I can offer couldn't do it justice. The vino bianco by the glass is the most generous glass of vino I've been served in a restaurant as I often feel that the measure is not enough to wet my lips. The staff are so helpful, friendly, welcoming and professional. Last but not least, the toilet facilities are immaculately clean which tells you a lot about a restaurant. I am planning my next meal there and will highly recommend Retablo to my foodie friends. Oh there's also no annoying loud music playing in the restaurant not do they have a television on, on the contrary you can enjoy a romantic or family meal in peace whilst enjoying the ambience sitting outside in the beautiful little street. Thank you Katerina and family, we will return for yet another dining extravaganza. Forgot to mention the delicious wee appetisers that were served to us whilst awaiting our starter and the home made bread was to die for! So much to say about this little gem of a...
Read moreThe food just didn’t the spot. Was definitely not typical Sicilian food at all. Everything on the menu was not available which was disappointing. They had substitutes for dishes with leftover ingredients. The menu was conflicting, brought out dishes in a weird order. The food was not tasty at all especially for the prices. Also found a fly in our beef tartare which didn't really even taste like beef. Definitely a disappointing experience, would stay away if in Noto, i’m sure there are better places to eat.
I am actually a man, and not a woman. I have posted the photo in another comment. I have plenty of photos of the moth in our tartare. The owner called me and i hung up because i think it’s absolutely disgusting for her to call paying customers who did not like her food. I don’t even think she is from Sicily, nothing on her menu was traditional Sicilian cuisine. She obviously cannot take constructive criticism in the slightest. The owner is in the wrong business, obviously food is not her strong suit. I cannot believe the way she treats customers. If you all notice, she only responds to bad comments, does not respond to the good ones…i wonder why. Good luck with your restaurant, from an actually SICILIAN. CIAO!
3rd UPDATED REVIEW
I have been getting harassed on instagram by someone from the restaurant, Walter Palminteri. He has been harassing me on instagram, commenting hurtful comments and was threatening to fight me. I obviously blocked him and forwarded it to the authorities. Again, please stay away from this...
