trattoria al buco — Restaurant in Noto

We were desperately looking for a cool place in the centre of Noto on one Sunday in July. Although this 'trattoria' had an air-conditioned inner space, we opted for one of the street tables in the shade. We ordered three pasta dishes, wine and water. All three pasta were delicious (I particularly loved the lasagna, however, more suited for cooler days) and also the white wine they recommended was a real hit. We paid 44 euro for everything and were treated like kings. The waiters are simple and genuine local boys, and the restaurant owner who deals with payments is a very funny one with awful language skills, but we understood every joke he told us or to the others at the neighbor tables. I wandered around the beautiful old historical town of Noto and I've found this restaurant along the main street as I saw the restaurant almost full for dining so I've asked if there was table for three people and she came back and gave us one. The food was good except the mixed salad that cost eight euros arrived in small portion with 3 pieces of olives (see photo). The place is in great location and has a good ambiance for outdoor dining and it seems it quiet popular with tourists and has great view of the stairs going up to the church. The staff was friendly and we didn't wait for long for the food...

Sconsigliamo vivamente. Fritto misto a 15€ che di misto non aveva nulla (anelli di totano e gamberoni scongelati veramente con poco gusto) grigliata di spada con lo spada che era 'na sola, fine fine e secco secco e gli stessi due gamberonacci sempre per 15€. I bimbi hanno preso pasta, il piccolo aveva 4 paccheri contati in un piatto, poco perfino per lui... Una ridicola imitazione di "nouvelle cuisine", la bolognese di mia figlia faceva schifo solo a vedersi povera... il sugo sembrava fatto col ketchup e gli spaghetti erano un blocco unico... Ma manco due spaghetti siete capaci di cuocere?! Siamo stati i primi a sederci a tavola e i bagni erano già sporchi, avremmo già dovuto capire da lì come sarebbe stato l'andazzo. La sola cosa memorabile è stato il nome della birra che mi ha strappato una risata (vedi foto) e il quadro (il ristorante è idealmente situato, di fronte alla chiesa di San Salvatore)... Ma sennò pietoso, non capisco la gente che mette 5 stelle a un ristorante del genere. Oltretutto consigliato da un locale, che visibilmente non ha gusto (o è amico del ristoratore). Una trappola x turisti e basta.

Febbraio 2025 - vedo ora il commento del gestore (del 2024). La nostra venuta risale al 2019. Se non avete più la birra nella foto è non fate più la bolognese (erano spaghetti al pomodoro, non sono sicuro se ci fosse delle carne tanto erano inguardabili) non posso saperlo. Non so se avete cambiato gestione, se ora pulite i bagni o se si mangia meglio. Ma sei anni fa abbiamo mangiato nella vostra trattoria i commenti fatti fanno riferimento a quel periodo. Mi spiace ma mantengo. Gli altri internauti potranno verificare se le cose sono cambiate e, in caso affermativo, metteranno un loro...
