Alright people, things you need to know about newly opened sushi places in Padova. Every sushi place offers amazing quality when it is new. I call this phase, “inception” With amazing food quality, customers rush in and you find yourself competing for a spot during lunch times... once the new place reaches full capacity utilization, I call the phase “honeymoon” After the honeymoon phase lasts for a few months, the quality of the food starts to decline, the lunch menu is limited to less than half the food options which were originally offered. The customers keep rolling in but don’t find the same stuff they came looking for. However, at this phase the sushi place is enjoying supernormal profits due to a compromised quality and limited offerings. This phase is called “bliss”. I call it so because it’s fleeting. Eventually the sushi place comes to a point where they have lesser number of regular customers and the systems pretty much on auto-pilot. The owners have moved on to the next opportunity of repeating the cycle and are possibly setting up another sushi bar somewhere. Meanwhile, the existing place is up for sale or already sold. This phase is called “limbo” ... If you don’t trust me, consider what happened with places like Motoi, San Fermo Sushi, Chiaki and others. ... BTW - Attimi is in the honeymoon phase - you need to rush and grab the goods while they last. Never mind the super busy staff who often mix orders, just go there and have a good time. It takes a lot of effort to find the next sushi place entering the cycle. Hope you enjoyed my perspective on the Sushi Cycle of Padova. Wonder if the cycle is the same in rest of Italy, or other sushi places for...
Read moreWe did AYCE for dinner on a Saturday and it was €28.90 per person (including the cover charge and a shared bottle of water). The quality was great, and there was a wonderfully wide selection with some interesting options. We tried a few types of dumplings, wakame salad, fried fiori di zucca stuffed with shrimp and surimi, various rolls, gunkan (including a couple sweet-ish ones, which were interesting and worth a try since dessert isn’t included), nigiri and shrimp tempura. Everything was fantastic, literally no complaints.
The service was also relatively fast, and there was no time limit. One thing is that even though they close at midnight, at about 22:45 a server came to ask if we wanted anything else because the kitchen would be closing soon, so just keep that in mind if you decide to have a...
Read moreUnfortunately the experience wasn't good. The server failed to inform us it was an all you can eat menu when we sat down. Ordered some nigiri sushi, side salad, and steam dumplings. Pictures from the menu didn't match the items ordered. Sushi was fine but not the best. Side salad was sad. Dumplings were falling apart and quality of meat not good. Yes, I'm a tourist but I travelled many places around the world. If you had Japanese food before, keep your expectations low. Sorry for the negative review but just doing my part to keep...
