Unfortunately, this is the worst experience we have had in Italy. The place was recommended by our B&B host so thought we would try it out. When we got there we were told it was a self service so we looked at what we liked and ordered. We ordered 2 pastas, a small plate and 2 drinks. Upon getting the small plate, my partner asked for a specific item which they said wasn't part of the small plate which was okay so we didn't order. We carried on enjoying our meal and a server came over with the item we initally wanted that wasn't part of the plate so we were confused but he was insistent so we took it (my parter though she might have got confused with what they said earlier about it not being part of the plate). Later, the chef came over and shouted at us while were eating saying we didn't order it so we shouldn't have it and then the lady at the till also came over and started shouting and created a scene in front of everyone at the eatery. We tried to explain that someone brought it over and we were confused why but their English wasn't very good and neither is our Italian so we said "no problem, we will pay for it". However, the scene carried on for the rest of our meal and we didn't finish our food as we were desperate to leave. This was created over something which was actually the fault of the eatery and we suffered the consequences. A good meal ruined by the worst people and staff we have met on our trip. We do not recommend if you aren't fluent in Italian as we were ridiculed to their mistake which we...
Read moreExcellent value for money. Would have given 5 stars for everything if not the way of ordering would have been a bit confusing and unclear. To order food you need to: Go to the cashier and palce your order where you get some tickets representing all items you paid for Go to the vitrine and retrieve the drinks and smaller items Take your queue-number from pastastation Wait for your turn. Once it is your turn you get (again using your ticket from the cashier) order your main course. The food comes very fast. Go to your table and eat.
We would never had figured this out without of the help of some kind locals who explained the system to us. So very grateful for that. The food is good, portions are big and everything is surprisingly cheap. Our 2 pastas, 1 ”ricedumpling”, one glass of wine and one Peroni beer was...
Read moreVery authentic trattoria where mainly locals eat. Located next to the theater, this trattoria is no tourist trap. Actually I’ve seen many tourists leave the place because it’s very busy and a bit difficult to understand how to get food 🙈 I highly recommend to eat there, it’s one of the best places we’ve eaten in Palermo.
It’s better to know what you’re having when you approach a cashier. You pay and get a piece of paper with the value of your order. Give this paper to a person behind the food parlor, tell what you want, and they will give you the number of your order. When the food is ready, you can take it with this number (they also bring it to your table if you’re seated). It’s a bit hectic and always busy, but it’s totally worth it. Perfect...
