Bioesseri was a delightful, unexpected discovery during a seven night stay in Palermo in February 2018. Although we also tried other restaurants / trattorias that served vegetarian food, my wife and I inevitably came back to Bioesseri for many reasons of quality.
Firstly, the restaurant caters for vegetarian and vegan diners with a good selection of wonderful, inventive dishes made from organic / sustainable source produce. (For those that do, fish and meat options are also available). We particularly enjoyed the panelle (chickpea fritters) starter (a Sicilian specialty); Farro alla Norma (a twist on a Sicilian favourite) primi ; the red cabbage with cheesy mashed potato primi (a hugely, tasty surprise); the smoked buffalo mozzarella and gorgozola pizza using a Spelt flour base; and the deconstructed canolo which made us smile.
There was a very good selection of wines, supporting favoured bio-vineyards and suppliers. We enjoyed being guided through them, available by glass or bottle.
Bioesseri is not for those on a tight budget but equally it is not as expensive as some high end or hotel restaurants. The wines especially are a little pricey but for which you get undoubted quality.
Bioesseri is designed to be a restaurant and cafeteria that sells bio-produce but what makes it a stand out apart from the cuisine and decor is the quality of staff. Grazie mille to Pietro Pizzo and Salvo Camarda the directors, Daniele Gravanti (Maitre), Franscesco Sciarratta (Barman) Samanta, Ester Gargano (waiters) but most especially to Manfredi Neri who served us for the four nights, someone who is knowledgeable in his job and provides good conversation without being imposing. We wish you all continued success and look forward to seeing...

The main reason we chose this restaurant was it was one of the first to pop up on vegan options in google. There is one vegan dish on this menu. Everything else has cheese and you must request it to be changed. I chose a pizza and it was the most disappointing thing I have eaten in my life. The swamp of oil and water from the tomato sauce in the middle of the pizza made it a floppy mess and inedible. The server only came to take our order then they avoided ever coming to our table. We had to ask for water twice!!! Then after that disappointment we go to the register to see a 5 euro sitting fee per person!!!! They gave me the most disgusting pizza then charged me to sit there to not eat it. Don’t waste your time and save your money. My friend liked her...
