I’m careful with my review on this one as I did not get to actually dine here and it certainly doesn’t deserve less on appearance. We tend to not book whenever we are away as we like to browse the restaurants on offer, I understand this can sometime be an issue in busy times and expect to get turned away if they cannot accommodate us. On the occasions we are turned away we will always return with a booking if we are intrigued enough. We visited Le rocce on a Saturday evening, there were a few tables available and the general layout and feel was inviting with a good atmosphere. The head waiter (possibly owner or manager) hesitated but prepared us a table and we were very grateful as we had walked well over 1km on a very warm evening. Unfortunately I would much rather him have turned us away as we seemed to be just ignored. I think the actual time we sat and waited for some attention was 17 minutes, this doesn’t seem long I know but as the chap looked in our direction on a number of occasions and decided to walk away we could see how the dining experience was going to pan out. To the side of us there was a huge table of 20 or so but only the first 2 guests has arrived, as we sat waiting just for the offer of some water and drinks we realised we were going to be very soon the bottom of a very large priority pile. The food that I did mange to see looked very good and I would strongly advise booking here if you...
Read moreDuring our two-week stay in Sicily, we visited many restaurants and tavernas. But this one truly captivated me. After our less-than-successful culinary adventures in central Palermo, we returned here many times. I especially recommend the pasta and seafood – everything from oysters ,fish to lobster -was fresh, juicy, and aromatic. My favorite dish, however, was the Busiate pistacchio (pasta with pistachio pesto and shrimp). The wine selection was excellent – I recommend the Selezione di Famiglia Grand Cuvée. On top of all this, the service was excellent – I don't even mention waiter service – it was very homey – wonderful advice, a sense of humor, and a great approach to children. In short – in my opinion, the best restaurant in Mondello and the surrounding area. We will definitely be back – the essence of Sicilian flavors and joy of life...
