Giustospirito Parma — Restaurant in Parma

I've never been here before even though I think this restaurant has been here for a while by now. Inside it's quite alternative with many particular details (like full mirrors along the stairs which almost make you walk into them, or ears of wheat along the walls). The service was nice. A bit distracted especially when the restaurant was filling in but maybe someone was missing and they had to run. Food was good. I got a hamburger and was a really good combination of flavours. Even pizza was pretty good. The starter probably was the only thing I was hoping a bit better but in the mix of things, I tried also something which I really liked (I can't remember what that thing was...sorry). About desserts, I was hoping there could be a wider choice. It's mainly mousse of mascarpone in different ways. I tried the classic one and it was light and pretty good but, if you wish for something different, you will end up without any dessert. Price wise I think it was ok as well. I paid exactly what I expected. There's a car park at the entrance where you can leave your car for free. Just remember to bring the receipt you get at the entrance to the guy at the till once you are going to pay. There are not too many stalls so I cannot guarantee you can easily find a spot. I got there around 19.30 on Wednesday (holiday time) and it wasn't crowded. I think I'll go there again...

Non avrei mai pensato di dover scrivere una storia così allucinante. Ma stasera è stato un incubo. Ieri ho telefonato per prenotare un tavolo per 3, sabato sera alle 20:00. Mi hanno confermato il tavolo, consigliandomi però di arrivare alle 19:45 per incontrare meno folla e mangiare con più calma, visto che alle 21:30 dovevamo in ogni caso liberare il tavolo per una prenotazione successiva. Arriviamo alle 19:20 e ci sediamo. Ordiniamo due antipasti e due pizze, chiedendo che le pizze arrivassero dopo gli antipasti. Ci portano gli antipasti e iniziamo a mangiare. Pochissimi minuti dopo arriva una delle due pizze: la rimandiamo indietro chiedendo di portarla con l’altra pizza dopo aver terminato gli antipasti. Dopo un minuto lo stesso cameriere arriva con le due pizze, ma noi non avevamo ancora finito gli antipasti. Erano ancora le 20:05. Meno male che siamo arrivati in anticipo per mangiare con calma. Rimandiamo indietro le due pizze chiedendo ancora una volta di portarle dopo che avessimo terminato gli antipasti. Terminati gli antipasti, aspettiamo le pizze, che arrivano bruciate, perché evidentemente avevano tenuto in forno le stesse pizze portate in anticipo. Abbiamo dovuto chiedere più volte posate e un piatto perché una pizza andava divisa fra due persone. La mia pizza era senza mozzarella, ma avrebbe dovuto esserci. Ho chiesto al cameriere come mai, e lui mi ha risposto che quella pizza non prevedeva la mozzarella. Mi sono fatto portare il menu per controllare, e avevo ragione io. Poi arriva un altro cameriere, chiedendoci che cos’è che non andava e se era vero che ci avevano portato una pizza in meno. Non avevano capito niente. Racconto tutta questa storia all’ultimo cameriere, sorridendo per essere cordiale con un ragazzo che stava comunque lavorando. Lui mi consiglia di andare a lamentarmi direttamente alla cassa, perché il mio sorriso lo faceva sentire offeso e “preso per il culo”. Esattamente queste parole che cito tra virgolette, dette a un cliente che sorridendo e con rispetto stava lamentandosi di un pessimo servizio. Malgrado fossimo arrivati alle 19:20 proprio per mangiare con calma ed evitare confusione a loro. Alla cassa raccontiamo di nuovo tutta la storia a un altro impiegato che forse era anche un responsabile. Lui almeno era costernato. Ci ha ascoltato con grande rispetto, ci ha chiesto scusa non so quante volte e ci ha fatto pagare solo le bevande. Almeno alla fine hanno cercato di trovare una soluzione. Solo per questo ho dato al servizio due stelle e non una. Ma non credo che ci tornerò, malgrado l’ottima qualità del cibo . Grande amarezza: mi ero sempre trovato bene e ci ho portato stasera i miei genitori, in visita da fuori Parma, convinto di fargli conoscere uno dei posti migliori della città. Ma ci hanno rovinato la serata....

Visited on a recent rugby tour weekend so part of a large party (50 guests). Lots of room here, we were upstairs and the place seemed very popular with others which is a good sign. We had large pizzas as part of our deal and these were really good. Didn't see much else apart from the drinks menu (rugby tour!). Good selection of beer from local brewers. Would visit again when back in Parma, be good to look at the menu in more detail. My only issue would be that the service upstairs was not as fast as I would have liked. Long waits between ordering drinks and then having them arrive. I suspect a staffing issue and to be fair we found a couple of other places with similar so suspect Covid has impacted staffing.
