We stumbled upon this little gem while exploring Parma and decided to make dinner reservations. The experience impressed us before we even walked through the door—the aroma from the charcoal BBQ pit was enough to spark our appetites instantly.
We were welcomed by Francesco (call him Frank), a cheerful and accommodating host who happily explained the restaurant and its offerings before seating us. Naturally, we began with a bottle of wine to set the mood.
For appetizers, we enjoyed the Contra Fritti paired with 30-month aged Parmigiano Reggiano and melt-in-your-mouth prosciutto topped with an 8-year aged balsamic vinegar—thick, rich, and unforgettable. A perfect light start.
For the mains, I ordered the pork ribs. Enormous in portion, they could easily feed two. Having dined at several top rib houses, I can confidently say these were the best ribs I’ve ever had—tender, flavorful, and absolutely unmatched. If you love ribs, this is a must-try. Sorry, Mike Saine!
My wife opted for the pasta with wild boar ragù, which was fresh, hearty, and perfect down to the very last bite. We skipped dessert in favor of a second bottle of wine, which made for the perfect ending before our leisurely walk back to the hotel.
This restaurant is truly worth a visit if you’re looking for a memorable meal in Parma. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating—but if you sit outside, be sure to step inside to take in the warm,...
Read moreMy husband and I had dinner here while in Parma and wow it was delicious. We loved how they started us off with the little packed bread and salami and cheese, it was all so good! We got a half liter of the house red and it was fantastic. We each started off with a pasta dish and decided to share a meat dish based on the recommendation of the waiter, who was spot on, it was PLENTY of food, there is no way I’d have been able to eat my own.
I ordered the pappardelle with wild boar ragu which was very flavorful and delicious. My husband started with the tortelli with truffle, Parmesan, and asparagus and said his was also really fantastic. We then decided to share the Rosa dei Parma (also called Rosa dei Servi on the menu, apparently they have an old menu and a new menu but it is the same thing). I can’t begin to describe how good this was. It truly showcases the foods Parma is known for, Parmesan cheese and prosciutto de Parma, and also the steak that this restaurant specializes in. Every bite was a burst of flavor in my mouth.
We ordered the Susana cake for dessert which was good but nothing to write home about, and they brought us each a shot of limoncello which was very good. Given all the food we got, we couldn’t believe how reasonably priced the meal was and we left very full and happy. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who...
Read moreI mean it's just the best.
Food is 5 stars, outstanding. From the 'on the house' bread, salami and parmesan which is simply delicious and you carve yourself on a little board, with it's crunchy olive bread.
Then we had pasta the Ragu and Truffle based on a recommendation. The Ragu with Cinghiale was the most refined and melt in the mouth I've eaten in Italy. Soft chunks of meat with a rich tomato Ragu enhance with Lambrusco reduction. Delicious Papadella with the nice addition of ribbon edges to add texture. The only minor point is the decorative cherry tomatoes which seems unnecessary and doesn't really add to the dish.
The Truffle pasta is also wonderful with slices of Asparagus and many think slices of Truffle grated on top of the rich creamy sauce.
Also finally a place that serve pasta dishes in a size that you can actually eat a Secondi. We had a large starter at a bar nearby before so sadly couldn't manage it anyway.
I only wish we had the space to have the steaks which are cooked on coals outside the front of the restaurant. Then have a 'passport' of steaks to make a selection from, a couple of them need to be booked in advance.
I would eat there everyday if I could.
Very child friendly too with highchairs with straps and unusual...
