Wonderful place. The cold cuts were great, The fried bread (in lard!!) was delicious and there was a generous helping of both. The pumpkin ravioli was also very nice. And the stuffed veal rump was meltingly tender. By that point in the meal, we were stuffed because the portions were pretty large. And then dessert came: a buttery sbrisolona cake (which was really like a streusel cookie) and a mound of very boozy zabaglione. The prices were very decent considering the portion sizes, and the staff were friendly, charming, and un-intrusively attentive. They watched and waited till we had almost finished our previous courses before asking if we'd like the next course. Otherwise, they left us alone and let us take our time. A thoroughly enjoyable experience.

We loved our lunch here. A torta fritta, some fried bread, with local salami and ham is a must! So good! We could have just ordered mountains and mountains of this starter and then leave as round as ball. But we also had tagliatelle with ragù / tomato sauce. Both were delicious. But I liked the pasta stuffed with meat and with ragù meat sauce even more. Service was so nice, so kind, loved to explain it all and answer any questions. Our waiter with dark hair was really wonderful. We had a great time and left very happy. We were just sad that we didn't have any room left for dessert. They have 3 different areas, an interesting cellar to sit, inside on ground floor and a small section outdoors covered with glass.

The location of this place is great: super central, in a small quiet road just beside a main street. We found a table in the veranda. Normally we would have been concerned considering the less than ideal weather but it was actually enjoyable, even if we were super close to the entrance we're all the wet umbrellas were left. Food was very inconsistent as it had high highs and low lows. The wine was fantastic. The "gnocco fritto" really extremely tasty. We expected neither of these 2 things to impress us. What we were looking for were charcuterie and "cappelletti in brodo di cappone" and I found both disappointing. The charcuterie wasn't particularly tasty and actually, one seemed almost not particularly fresh. The broth of the cappelletti had barely any taste (and sure, that can be due to personal preference) but it was not warm at all, like it had stayed there waiting too long before they served us. In general I recall having to wait quite a bit between the starter and the main.

We came by at 8:30p on a Sunday evening and had to wait for an hour for a table for 2. So reservations are recommended in advance. This was a very family style restaurant and had a nice charm. We really enjoyed the fried bread for the appetizer and the cappelini were tasty with the bolognese sauce. The tricolor ravioli is very cute; however the green and yellow ravioli flavors are a bit too similar to the sauce. The orange ravioli had pumpkin and was a better contrast. A skirt steak came out and it was seasoned after cooking. The potatoes are heavily seasoned and the greens were not. We enjoyed our meal at the golden rooster.

Excellent ambience and food!!! All dishes were absolutely delicious!!!! Torta fritta (or gnocco fritto) was the best we tasted in Emilia Romagna. Mixed with stationed Parmigiano Reggiano and Prosciutto crudo it was a masterpiece symphony for our senses... I will never forget the vapour and aroma when sliced prior to adding prosciutto crudo that was like silk... On top of that, Parmigiano cheese with aceto balsamico to finally jam my senses in a big bang explosion of flavours... It was our best Italian experience until now. Central location inside the historic centre. The staff was helpful and polite.
